Saw this one in person in Texas right in the center. Unless you see this in person there are no words to describe what it is like. What I saw today was the most beautiful & incredible thing I have EVER witnessed. If you haven't seen one of these total solar eclipses, you need to do it in your lifetime. It had a profound impact on me, & I can't quite explain how.

I had a whole plan setup. Booked a cabin in Northern Maine. Bought my eclipse glasses and packed everything for the day. 10 minutes before I was supposed to head out, I get the most intense abdominal pain I've ever experienced in my life. Had to call 911 and hours of agony later I find out I have a kidney stone. I didn't get the see the eclpise at all. My hospital room had zero windows and I missed the whole thing. I live in Baltimore. And although we only had a 90% eclipse, the eerie feeling of the eclipse still took hold. As we neared our maximum, I noticed as shadows became sharper, the temperature dropped about 5-7 degrees, the breeze picked up, the sky became a deeper blue, colors looked duller, and the sun was a thin crescent! That already wowed me. Can’t wait to experience a total one sometime in the future.

As the shadow crept its last minute or so toward maximum, I could see the staff of a law office, a building demolition crew, folks from a music lesson academy, and the employees of a party store all stop what they were doing for a while to bask outside in the astronomical rarity. But there was still all kinds of traffic rushing by on the road -- drivers that were just so "cool" or "important" that they couldn't pull over in a parking lot and pause for even two or three minutes and join the rest of us basking fools. Back in 2017 during the last eclipse I was in middle school and was able to go outside to see a partial covering, it was as if it was evening with how much sunlight was blocked. Ever since then I swore I would travel to the path of totality for the next one (which happens to fall a month before I graduate) and see it in full. My mom and I drove a few hours and found a good spot to watch with conditions that cleared up just in time. Things went quiet except for the sounds of the animals and there was a strange feeling in the air as the unusual darkness set in, and then we looked up to see the total eclipse in all its glory. At totality it was probably the coolest thing I've ever seen, there was detail in ways I couldn't have even imagined and it completely blew my expectations out of the water. It almost felt surreal and as if you had stepped into another dimension. Pictures seriously do NOT do it justice and if you're ever near the path in the future, go. The partial eclipse is cool, but it has nothing on totality which is just absolutely mesmerizing. It was truly an incredible experience.

It really is a completely different experience seeing a total eclipse. I've seen tons of 70% coverage or 80% or whatever but nothing even remotely compares. It is amazing because even when the sun was like 98% covered it was still pretty bright outside. Then the last like 120 seconds before full total eclipse everything changes outside incredibly fast. Then you can finally look up at the sun without glasses or solar binoculars and you see this absolutely brilliant silver/white ring around the sun with many beams of white light shooting out. It's absolutely jaw dropping. It is night time dark so stars come out. There is even sunset coloring out in the distance. For several minutes it is just the most beautiful thing you could ever see. I was STUNNED
