I've only done one solar farm. The cables were double insulated, rather than Swa. Seemed a bit suspect, but i think it's still working 😁

Thanks Jamie, I enjoyed watching that, and Ive not come across one of those shoe knives before but thought it was great, though every day is a school day. Where did you get yours because I can only find a ridiculously expensive Knipex one online. Bodingtons do one but I couldnt see a price?

Hi Jamie, why Aluminium cable? is it just down to the cost, what about the resistance of Al over Cu, with the amount of current at full sunlight is there a large voltage drop. Tony is a top bloke with large SWA. Regards from Ray in North Wales.

Hi ray, it was specified by A N OTHER. So not sure but all the solar farms use Ali , it’s lighter for the long runs required and it’s not worthy of stealing seem to be the most viable answers I can come up with , it’s cirtanly a bot if a sod to work with

@@Actual_electrical_content Probably more to do with the limited supply of copper, they can't have growth of solar farms where lots would traditionally get used gobbling it all up, it is highly resource heavy to extract with new mines, etc. Majority used for solar is also outdoor application so I presume they worry less about the insurance/collateral implications of Ali. Also I am surprised solar farms are a big deal in the UK with all that grey weather for much of the year. 😁

I love the combination of you being such a clown but you then back yourself up by showing how you are a proper electrician and really do know your stuff. I Terminated The M25 Entire Copper System From Junction 11 to 8 A*B Carriageways .A55 M40 A1M Loads No Sand ? All Comms Trenches are Filled with sand .Should be.if You Can Keep The Armor cut straight this also makes the Gland Seat Also Did all The O F . .I Can Ring cut and Sheath Remove with a small pocket Knife Never any Damage . leatherhead Was a Challenge When pulling the Power Chalk hills Through Junct 9....Wr got there stay safe Or Ill tell ya nan.
