As a sparky I had a large EV manufacturer and installer install an EV in one of my rental properties, if I say the install was PP you might know who they are, PP by name and PP by nature, first they wanted to put a board in the meter cupboard, then they wanted to put one next to the meter cupboard, the consumer unit was literally just the other side, they refused to use it because it had AC type RCD, I said create a spare way none RCD protected and run that to a board next to the consumer unit, I was told they were not allowed to do that, so in the end I said I would do it before they came. It was literally the easiest install for them but without even looking at the consumer unit they just wanted to straight away put a board in the meter cupboard that they said they were allowed to do or put one just outside the meter cupboard which by the way would mean the EV charger which had no lock could not be isolated so any Tom Dick or Harry didnt use it while someone was away, at least having it inside the house it could be turned off and not accessible..
