My neighbor in Camden was a retired boat builder as a kid I would go next door to play and ended up sanding and staining parts...wonder if ole red is alive..the man was genuinely a boat building or repair machine.those were the days.

Isn't it amazing how some people can not only manage to convince you to do something utterly boring like sanding and finishing, but to somehow get you to enjoy it? My grandfather would do that, I remember once, I'm on my hands and knees with him, he was 70 at the time, sanding the finish off a hardwood floor, not only did I, a 13 year old kid, willingly accept, and assist him, I f*cking _enjoyed_ it, till this day, I am convinced he used some Jedi mind trick 😂

I appreciate this so much more than those quick, sloppy builds or $500 Home Depot challenges, etc. Those always feel so wasteful and you can tell the creators will probably never touch it again after filming the videos. You’ve made something that could be enjoyed time and time again. Something you can be proud of, no matter how small or “simple”. Love this.

@@kani6855 do you suppose having all the work done at the office/shop might have something to do with it? he sorta has to BE THERE for a lot of that stuff, hence why his 3 day build right here in this very video took longer. he's still building, so he cant just be gone all the time to appease everyone in the comments. his videos are still quality content with interesting ideas. if he's just like all the others, then i guess you're also being "debbie downer" on THEIR comment sections as well?

Sooo, yes the idea of using weatherproof/canvas tent material to enclose the boat would be epic. Snaps for sure but Velcro will work. Cut each section to fit between all the ceiling supports. This will allow you to open and close all the sections independently (great for at night for fishing from bed or say during the day if its raining). Also make sure you include a screen window on each side that you can roll up for air flow at night or daytime. 1 of 2 suggestions. #1 - place both battery packs 1/2 way up the hull (or get everything in the boat and then decide where to put them based on load weight/balance in the water). #2 - mount your aft/rear anchor's with Scotty 620767 #276 Anchor Lock w/ #241 Side Deck Mount(s). Your mushroom anchor can hang from the bow to add more stabilization for cruising the waters and a YakGear Bruce Coastal Anchor for the rear to dig in and keep you in place. I have both anchors and the drop system on my 10' Bass buggy and it plants us even on the smaller swift rivers with no issues and we are loaded down (600+ LBS).

If it were me, I would definitely consider some detachable, or fold-up pontoons for stability... like empty water dispenser bottles... also I would probably make the hard roof 3/4 the length it is now (enough to cover the bed deck) and have the very back (galley / fishing area) covered with canvas when needed but during fishing it can be rolled up and out of the way for better movement, landing fish, casting .... great project... can't wait to see it finished.

I have seen roofed fishing boats where they have added a net underneath the roof, tightened way up underneath, so you can basically push anything you have in your hands that moment up between the net and the roof - it's like a boat-rocking-proof shelf, I guess. I'd add that if I were you. In addition, maybe consider some keel/weight management to avoid rocking so much about. Fun project :)
