Was searching on info about mixing batteries and ran across your channel. Was intrigued enough after watching one of them to skim a few others. Went back to your very first and WOW... your solar system has been through a morph. Thanks for sharing your videos and intellectual info. If you ever run into a tripod ... try it out... you made me dizzy following you back in forth : ) Enjoyed your videos... Keep them coming.

Have you looked at replacing your MagnaSine with the Growatt SPF 5000 ES? It’s an inverter and charge controller in one. They are stackable so you can add more as you want more. You can customize your charging current from 10-100a, set your charging voltage, float voltage, & cut off voltage. And it’s only $900 You do need a transformer (one can be used for multiple inverters) to split your voltage down to 120v.

If you were going to run only in day time you should have gotten MPP inverter. Can run batteryless. Thanks for the vid

Just curious, but why did you switch from the hybrid hot water controller from NRodge to the Little Gray Box controller?
@rhandsom6 жыл бұрын
Actually, I didn't own the hybrid hot water controller. I bought his other unit that worked with grid tie inverters.

How efficient are the nickel iron batteries? Power to charge vs power taken out, how much do you lose. I have been looking to buy these batteries for several years. Thanks

Ni-Fe batteries are not very efficient, they are durable and built to last, but they are not as efficient as Lead Acid or Lithium based cells. That's why I use Ultra-Capacitors with my setup.

Dam walmart water! I have my own distiller to bro haha.. Question: Is there a type of basic switch ( or something under $300 ) that is not a total grid tie deal but merely one to utilize power when it comes in then send it to the items such as some lights, freezer, and misc, and then if the battery falls below a certain voltage it will switch back to the grid or wall outlet power?

You need to get some ev battery’s. no maintenance. Why would you switch it off when the sun goes down, makes no sense to me. I charge my battery and sell to the grid at the same time, then when the sun goes down I don’t buy any from the grid because i have battery’s.

I switch between off-grid and on-grid, the system itself is always running. During the day, I use a lot of power, so it works out for me. With EV cells or lithium cells in general, they work great but after 10 years, they'll have to be replaced. I like the idea of not having to buy batteries again.

Was considering upgrading my 2 vmax 12v starter battery bank of 250ah total to a used 24 v Tesla battery for a big step up in total wattage available and longevity. I had heard these could last 20-30 years. What do you guys think of this one?
