I remember when I was a kid and we went to that folk festival in scotland. I was bored and annoyed the whole day. But in the evening they opened the big tent and bands were playing songs like this and in the end of the night everybody was dancing with everybody! This is such a great memory - since that day I love folk music. I always feel good listening to such amazing music! :) Great song!

This band is one of my all time favorites. I have seen them a few times when they come to DC. I never get tired of the music. It makes me want to dance all the time. They also do some traditional Irish music which I also love. Love to sing along! Keep the music going Solas!

My favourite irish band. Solas are soooo good. I love this reel, very american western guitar with a blend of irish in the morning dew...beautiful :)

Love the way they get in synch before breaking out the reel: and Winna's dancing feet are a joy! Thank you all for giving your wonderful talents and energies to nourishing the Irish music root/trunk and several of its flowering branches as well! Not to mention providing a wonderful example of Morning Dew :-)

The music is a phenomenon of nature - I could listen to it for hours. But my favorite part of the video is to see them grinning like idiots because they're having such an awesome time playing. THIS is music.

The show is on dvd, Reunion: a decade on Solas. It's recorded in the Irish pub of Philadelphia, with a sold out show. I don't remember the farther details of it, but I will search it, I have the dvd, and place it here asap.

Just got back from Celtic Connections - could only afford 3 days, nothing but wonderful music 1400 - 0300 hours, just great, and you will be able to view some on BBC Alba/iPlayer. Solas were just stunning, a beautiful memorial, not overdone, to all those who worked & died in Shamrock City, a breathtaking performance in wonderful surroundings. Book yourself in to Celtic Connections 2014!

Solas changed how I hear this music, and how I play it. I think that they have change how all of us hear and play it. I promoted them into my home town before anyone here, myself included, knew who they were. It was my first show. I'm not even sure why I took it on, but I'm glad that I did. I got a phone call from John Williams, who I knew, but not all that well, and he asked me if I knew any venues that might be interested in the new band that he was in. It changed, Solas changed, everything for me. Here they are, a very different lineup, still taking common tunes into a whole new landscape, opening them up while remaining true.

According to some trad listeners, Solas is on its way to being the next Bothy Band. Myself, I prefer original Bothy Band and the more sparse instrumentations of Altan.
