That was my thought as well! It's a very smart layout, and I especially like the sofa and chair as it adds a lot more character than the typical pullout or captains chairs. However, a pullman dinette would be perfect. I would also move the wood stove as far away from the bedroom as possible, but that's just because I'm wired differently than everyone else and can't get too cold at night haha.

@Heartsongsutube It will also improve convection, taking advantage of the chimney heat. I think a nice custom touch, could be real (or fiberglass?) stone stacked up around the enclosure, as if it were a real cottage fireplace. A tiny hearth could be included. I know, I know. But I can always dream!

Five things that still need sorting to make this the boat for me: 1. That stove! The location is terrible and the surrounding walls just have to go. There is a reason no one has ever seen this on another boat before! 2. The bath with shower curtains! High end does not equal bath with shower curtain! 3.The colour. Too much bling for me. Reminds me of a 1980's Ford Escort Cabriolet not a narrowboat. 4. The lack of dinette. I'd give up the boot room and such a big wardbrobe in the bedroom to have a dinette and not a breakfast bar every day of the week. 5. The price.

I'm having trouble coming up with complaints. No solar panels, no shades on the sunroofs (I'd rather put an extra window in), the "mud room" is an interesting idea, but the door either blocks part of the kitchen counter and dishwasher or reduces airflow through the boat. The stove location doesn't bother me, but the location of the tv means it's really only visible from a small part of the living room. And the price is steep, but it's a new boat-nearly-with a warranty. If I had the cash I'd be sorely tempted.

I'm glad they went back and made some changes (it would be interesting to do a comparison between the two videos to see what all they did), but unfortunately the most needed change by far IMO didn't get addressed -- and that's the quite unfortunate design of the stove surround. Still makes the saloon feel claustrophobic and I wouldn't want to spend any more time in that area than I had to. It's unfortunate as the rest of the boat is quite spectacular (aside from the dirty-looking floor in the mud room) but that one design faux pas would prevent me from spending anywhere near that much on it. Maybe if the asking price came down about 25K so I'd have the budget space to have the saloon redone and put that stove in the corner. But I'm sure someone won't mind that and will eventually pony up for it.
@thekitowl4 жыл бұрын
It looks like the changes are moving the TV & cabinet to where a chair was , putting a sofa in front of the fire ( that’s gonna get hot ) & window blinds. It still needs ceiling blinds in at least the bedroom.
@Project_Servotopia4 жыл бұрын
@@thekitowl Thanks! I personally think that by just disassembling the walls surrounding the stove you could have made a huge difference here and eliminated the biggest bone of contention from the last go-around. You could have kept the stove and TV in the same place, still had the nice tile backsplash (for lack of a better term) and keep the comfy armchairs on either side without the saloon feeling cramped/claustrophobic. But as I mentioned before (on what appears to be a now-deleted comment thread) that may have been judged as being too much effort for the return on the investment and I can understand the logic.
@SLO-Ride4 жыл бұрын
Well now, it seems the designers, and perhaps more-so, Rugby, realized our suggestions would make the boat much more serviceable and appealing for sale. And wouldn't you know it, but I've nothing negative to say about her now! I even like her reverse layout, which normally bothers me to no end! I could happily live aboard her with no complaints. I really like the 3 skylights, not only for their obvious savings of electricity for lighting, but they also open to vent on a hot day. It would be no effort to arrange privacy screens to keep curious eyes from gongoozling from the tow path. Other than some decorative painting to liven up her outsides, and "homey" personal touches to the interior, she looks like the near perfect modern cruising queen! I believe I like her almost as much as the very custom "Oak".
@edthedrummer3 жыл бұрын
Decorative painting....the very thing that would ruin this boat
@SLO-Ride3 жыл бұрын
@@edthedrummer It's always nice to have a personal touch displayed to passerby's. Her outer hull are blank canvas for lovely scenes, colors, classic "medieval" scrolls and florals, or just her name in beautiful script. One of the main points of having the canals still open, is to acknowledge the hundreds of years they have been constructed. That acknowledgement should be in a classic or timeless, paint theme or scheme. You must agree, that the new owner would indeed hang pictures or paintings to liven up a droll and unhappy interior wall? Why wouldn't that same need be applied to her exterior? As a Yank, on the "someday wish" of moving to England to live upon and ply the canals in my senior years, I have long planned to establish a bight red, white, and blue homage to to America, from stem to stern!

Not to mention the cost of maintaining and operating an RV is exspensive. We pay $215 just to store (park) ours per month. When were on the road camping with hookups often runs $50 a night and up to $100. Sure you can boondock in the desert for free but that's neither practical or desirable. Once you pay your annual canal use tax in the UK you can travel the country for very little. I realize there are costs to operating a narrrowboat too especially if your parked up at a marina but overall I would love to spend some time on the canals. Btw I was born and raised in Birmingham but live in so Cal.

@@RuitpootBuizerd reason it isn't in many boats is its expensive. and you have to run the engine or be hooked up to electricity to use it. but it uses flexible tubing to carry the fluid and its a closed system so if it springs a leak it will not sink the boat. That tiny sink with no drainer means you would forever be wiping down the worktops.
