Riverotter what kind of white paint are you using? I always torch after I put my base coat down because of air bubbles. The torch pops them. Always torch after your pour as well. You can let your paints sit over night to let the bubbles pop(they can appear after mixing)

I would love to try this pouring technique, however, I can't find a recipe that tells me how to mix the paints. Here's what I have. I'm hoping that you would be kind enough to help me. I use liquitex heavy body paints. I do have some liquitex Basics in titanium white that's pretty much the only tube I have that's more of a thin paint. And I also have a lot of the liquitex matte medium fluid mediums and gloss and varnishes. I don't have any silicone or anything like that or any of the floetrol or whatever that stuff is that people are using. Is there a way for me to achieve cells using the acrylics that I have? And if so, how can I do just like a small pour on top of a canvas or an acrylic painting that I've already been working on? For example, I kind of want to do just some small cells in a portion of the painting is that possible? Any of your expertise would be so appreciated. Thanks! Blessings
@SarahMackArt5 жыл бұрын
So you can mix your Titanium white with a liquitex pouring medium and thin it down with water until it runs almost similarly to water. Then try and do the “swipe technique”. I did not use silicone but my white was very thin. Here I used decoart 24k and that naturally cells. As I mentioned above I use Floetrol and that seems to make cells as well when at a certain consistency. I’m not sure what consistency you are mixing your paints. Do you have access to Floetrol? Liquitex can be pricey.
@Me-dl1tx5 жыл бұрын
@@SarahMackArt Hi! Thanks for getting back with me. I actually have all liquitex products right now. I'm sure I could order some floetrol but I don't have any at the moment. I was hoping that there would be a way that my liquitex pouring medium would help create cells but I wasn't sure. And I'm not sure as to the consistency but it looks like yours is pretty thin and like you said, it needs to be thin... Also, I've added distilled water instead of regular tap water. That's just so there's no rust or anything that can occur over time. Do you think that it would be worth it to invest in some floetrol and just add that? I've attempted this several times and one time I did get a little piece on the canvas that looked really great and did have these teeny tiny cells and we're super pretty and interesting and then the rest of it looked a big mess. LOL! I hate to keep wasting because like you said, liquitex is pretty expensive. I really wish I could achieve this look! You do such an amazing job. Thank you again! I really appreciate any tips and advice you have to offer. Blessings, Misti
