I know a lot have critisised this boat, I first saw it at the begining of my journey and I had no idea what I wanted or needed. I do agree the paint is poor but the price reflects that however there is more than enough money saved to cover that cost and then the colour is your choice. Part of the appeal of wide beams is the extra space and as much of it is open plan you could change this around as much as you like. I am not rapt with the internal paint either but that is very easily changed. Whoever finally brought this had a perfect oportunity to create their own boat.

Nice looking boat and attractively priced. You should really show the engine space, electrical distribution centre and battery location.

Very nice and at a great price. How much does its width and height limit access to the canal network? Does one give up many miles of canals by choosing a larger boat? Thanks, Alex
@johnwilkinson48044 жыл бұрын
These people are kidding you,these boats can do very few canals and even the ones they do manage they anit really welcome.Widebeams are mainly on the thames which is a big wide river.

www.mappery.com/map-of/UK-Broad-Beam-Canal-Map Then again we could always refer to the map and find out that other than the midlands shown in green at least 80% of the network is available to you, the red are canals and the blue rivers. Initially you have to choose North or South but there are ways to get from one system to the other with some preperation. One thing you have already encountered is there are some that do not like wide beams and are happy to display their prejudice. Ignore them !!!

Very spacious ! I think that would be better for us . Would we not get through the Shropshire and onto the Anderson lift ? Ha ha, I should look it up ! I mean is there a long way round from say Birmingham to the Shropshire ? In a wide beam ?( You can tell I new at this !), Ha ha
@paulboden78505 жыл бұрын
Sometimes bigger is better. The extra 2 feet of beam adds considerably to the living space. The price has been reduced, so what are you waiting for?
@veronicaroach36673 жыл бұрын
It's so spacious compared with the 6ft ones, but - unless people are ill, or just spend a lot of time in there, bedrooms are basically a waste of valuable space unless they are convertible to daytime use ! IMO - I'd arrange all that space way differently !

Why do these boats always have tiny little (and often round) sinks? Clearly the galleys are designed and built by people who have never had to wash a grill pan or large roasting tray! There is no reason why a full size domestic sink cannot be fitted, they take up no more worktop length, just make better use of the depth from front to back. If the intention is to save water, then a simple washing up bowl could be used when a full sink of water wasn't justified.

I agree - similarly, washing machine under table? Designed by someone who doesn't do the cooking, pot washing or laundry!

Julia Palfree - True... For such a roomy boat, the rather small washer/dryer is surprisingly inaccessible.

It`s by design to save water. Most boat s have a 500lt water tank on broad this one as 750lt on broad. If you need to wash a grill pan or roasting tin use the well deck with a large bowl or bucket. People that live on boats tend to turn the shower of in the middle of showering. Ie wash your hair then turn it of whilst you wash yourself an soap yourself then rinse off. Just to save Water. Has for the Washing Machine yes a bit dumb but how many times a month do you need it two three ???. Or it`s not a big job to put the worktop on a hinge or make it detatchable sorted. i was surprised that there was no microwave on board.

As cool as they are. I just personally think it takes away from the canal lifestyle. Plus you can only go on a percentage of the canals. I'm not saying you have to have a small cramped canal boat. There are some who have pretty good space. But its like taking an RV and going "camping".
@MichaelsMustang4 жыл бұрын
www.mappery.com/map-of/UK-Broad-Beam-Canal-Map Logan if you look at this map I would guess about 80 % of the network is available and that is a lot that you do have access to
@Tawny67024 жыл бұрын
Does the 9ft wide give you anymore canal access that wide beams are normally restricted to, because this is a good compromise if it does.
@tom201090 Жыл бұрын
I think British Waterways (I have seen a list somewhere) gives you the maximum dimensions of a boat. Narrow Beam is up to 6'10." Broad Beam could be greater than 14'. So a 9' boat might be able to go on some routes that many broad beams can't. The thing is, there isn't a route between the network in the North and network in the South.

It's a tidy boat but that paint faded quickly for its age and it does seem lacking in the interior fit out. It seems a bit budget. Presumably, that is reflected in the asking price though.
@stevemadley57945 жыл бұрын
Must admit I was thinking the same about the external paintwork.
@spencerwilton58315 жыл бұрын
Steve Madley it looks almost like the paintwork has been pressure washed too aggressively- there are swirls all over the surface. Perhaps they thought using a boatyard petrol driven washer might be a good idea..
@garyreynolds57335 жыл бұрын
The external paint work is in a sorry state. I think that the kitchen, Bathroom and saloon are too big: Could have made another berth or office. Can still have that size bathroom, if you need it by making it a walk-through. That's what I'd do and keep that enormous (and personally desirable) shower capacity. According to the layout in the Brochure, contrary to the video, it's not a King size bed, but is 4'4'' wide. All in all I would definitely consider a 9' beam, and yet I'd still want more smarter space use to maximise storage and flexible use of space. I mean who actually needs a 10' x 9' galley and a hidden washing machine when there's room in the bathroom for it? I'm expecting to see better designs when I come to purchase our liveaboard next year or it'll have to be a DIY design spec and slow build by me. Ouch.

Not a very pretty boat, isn't it? the motel 6 of canal Boats.(Motel 6 is a chain of very inexpensive motels in the united States)

We call it 'Cheap and Cheerful' over here in the UK. The boat is a simple fit out with modest equipment. Its certainly a decent start. Looks good enough to immediately live aboard as is but with plenty of scope for easy improvements. Doesn't look like it'd need any repairs before upgrades so should be straight forward for the more discerning customer who prefers a good, clean canvas to add one's own personal touches. All in all, she's a nice boat. Especially considering the price at £69k. I've seen narrow-beams in shocking conditions been sold at that price... To get a clean wide-beam for that money is almost a steal.
