Hi how are you? I have a question, is that solder that you are using tin?
@Jansjewels3 жыл бұрын
Hi Sergio. The solder is not tin solder. The solder is prefluxed acid core solder with a melting temperature of 300 degrees. The low melting point solder is necessary since we are using a heat gun instead of a torch to prevent discoloring the silver plated settings. You can find the solder at www.jansjewels.com/soldering-paste-soldering-torches-1.html

I'm so glad I found your channel it is very helpful! I have one question, I'm looking to purchase soldering wire from your site, which wire is better to use in terms of safety and preformance wise, the one that contains lead or the lead free one? Thank you!
@Jansjewels8 жыл бұрын
The type of solder wire you use is a matter of preference. The lead free wire is great but, if you are using plated settings you will not be able to use that wire with a heat gun. The temperature is too high for the heat gun. You have to use a torch. I use the 300* wire for a lot of my work just because it melts fast and I can use it with plated settings without ruining the plating. Unfortunately I have not been able to find any lead free wire that melts at a low temperature.

your heat gun is it for embossing too? i bossed my wedding invasions and it looks like my mother in laws heat gun so much?
@Jansjewels7 жыл бұрын
Yes, you are correct. These heat guns were made for embossing. However, they will only work on the low temperature solder.
