Ive been soldering since I was 8 yrs old, now I'm in my 60's. That was in the electronic engineering.industry. When I got into Jewellery making some months ago now, I thought, I know what I need to know already. Ha ha. Totally different. Its been fascinating this recent journey, already. Thanks for making your videos Nancy, and of course, being you. Most Excellent.

I’m watching this just at the right time. I have not mastered the use of hard solder, yet. I’ve been making most of my rings with easy solder with good luck, however not happy with the naggy solder color that is left which always seems to reappear no matter how much sanding and polishing I do. I will try again, with the harder solder...thank you for this video!

Thank you Nancy! Fantastic as always. Can you do a video on using copper solder on copper and talk about the different types of copper solder? On the Aspiring Metalsmithers on Facebook group we've been discussing this and some individuals say they are getting a "gray" result that looks horrible. I don't have that problem but I don't know why. Is it the solder? Is it the flux (I use Rio's special flux for copper solder and copper sheet)? Is it the type of torch used?

Hi Nancy, big ta for this video! Although i always wash my piece with antibacterial soap before soldering and filing solder before putting it on the item being soldered it happens awfully often my flux does not flow...but i guess in my case it would be lousy joint;) I simply don't have that patient in my...:)

Nancy, how do you clean your solder? Sometimes I'm lazy, and leave it out, and it gets trashed.

I've just watched Soldering 101, Parts 1 and 2. At the end of Part 2, you indicate that the next video will be on butt, sweat, and T. I can't seem to find that video. Have you made it yet or have I just not found it? PS. Love these vids. Looking forward to watching more and thanks so much for helping to clear up a very confusing area of jewelry making.
