This movie came on in the late '90s as I'm chilling out in my condo apartment and I watched it and really damn enjoyed it. It was not heavy on the great special effects, they were not awesome. They were perfectly serviceable that made me focus more on the actors and the intentions of the story and I was completely entranced by it then and now. It's one of the best medium budget movies of all time that and starship troopers are in my top five sci-fi movies ever. Just because the public was distracted at other times with other larger movies which had a bigger bang takes nothing away from the artistic merit of this movie.

@@noheroespublishing1907 Kind of cool to think of the Nostromo's payload being titanium mined off Jupiter's 9th moon. But it's like the Mars colony idea i.e. that in reality it would suck. But I still love this sci fi universe. As a kid I remember thinking of Roy Batty being a combat model ("I've seen things..."), with humanity using super smart/strong soldiers to do amazing things in the outer reaches of space. Still cool now actually. Living in the current future with big tech spying on us is less sexy.

It connects to the Predator movie through the Alien series. Alien and Predator have been in the same universe for almost as long as the Aliens movie has existed (the first sequel, not the original); in comicbook and novel form, and then in movie format later.
