I haven't played this game since 08, but I can still remember every map so vividly. It was at a time when my brain was developing. I still randomly get very vivid thoughts of certain maps. I feel like it's imprinted in my memory. I actually did a 40 hour session during a double XP weekend. I remember how crazy addicted I was, and all the fights I would get into with my parents because of it. My friends would laugh at me for playing this whilst they played CoD, but I Loved this game and always tried to bring them over. When I would list my top 5 games that influenced my life, I would have recognisable games like WoW, RuneScape, Skyrim and Overwatch. But I doubt anyone would have a clue of what SF is.

Dude literally spoke my mind. I never got burnt out or sick from this game. Ever. I played for 17 hours straight through and whole days at a time. It’s all I did, all I knew. I still remember the radio calls, I remember how to k jump and k walk and every map like the back of my hand. This game needs to come back. My life would be so much better if this game came back. Honestly I’ve played video games since but I’ve never been straight up addicted like this one. Something about this game was just PERFECT. Fuck I really miss this game. I’ve never played anything like it.

@@ra-on6gn ngl, I may not enjoy SF these days. I'd only enjoy it for the nostalgia. I used to criticise ADD TDM games. But I don't think I have the patience to play this game anymore. Tracking every angle, waiting listening for footsteps (you can even hear k walkers), no health regen and waiting for another round after death. It was brutal, and after spending 2000 hours on a constant action game like overwatch, I'd have to to get used to a slower paced game. Used to run it on a potato of a pc. I've built a pc a few years ago. Would love to see how it plays. I remember how crazy the recoil would go even on an M4 sometimes. The reticle would sometimes go as big as the screen itself. Love this game even with all its flaws. Players running around in a death animation, the models reacting and flying off a few seconds after being killed, tapping, all the spots you can glitch in that never gets patched.

I miss this game for so many more reasons than it just being one of my favorite FPS games. The starter guns were all you need, weapon bombs were so much more fun than trading skins in CSGO, and this is where V-hopping started right?

This game and Combat Arms were 10x more addicting than any console FPS game released, with an exception being Bo2. I played this game on a shit pc listening through the speakers. I even remember tweeting at an Xbox lead saying to get this game revived and ported but it would never be the same. I never even heard of Csgo when this game was thriving, so this is my version of a late 2000s, pre-call of duty multiplayer game.

like everyone else here I've got very strong nostalgia for this game, used to play it with school friends and after church on sundays round my mates house - those were great times.. simpler.. life was somehow compressed, and in a temporal sense as well.. the globe spun more slowly.. before study and jobs really began to take their toll and- at least for me - a bit before the pressures of the sexual landscape and the career ladder became apparent.. I could probably play this game again but i wouldn't be able to recreate the conditions in which I played it, which would make playing it again a sort of perverse deja vu.. you can never go back.. the virtuality of these maps were our world once.. these days we contend with the virtual but in a different form - the old , more innocent and immersive virtuality of gaming has been replaced by the overstimulating yet underwhelming hyperreality of social media and whereas once I was utterly unconcerned with outward appearance, near most of my life is now about tending to the brand profile that others perceive in my personal and professional lives.. sorry if this comment is very tangential/depressing - it's not meant as such! but seeing footage of this game brought it out of me.. reminiscing on childhood is a bittersweet thing.. :)

Man. Remember all the different cheats on this game lol. Turn off your modem. Throw grenade at spawn point. Reconnect. Using knife at corners and edges to glitch into the wall. Using Xfire to screenshot and glitch behind the walls. Then the final GOMhacks and the game died after that. Same fate as Gunz.

Might be the high ping. I think at this time the server was based on a Thai SF build, which was the same as USF. Only Korean has different mechanics and ping/server config differences
