Getting to play Splinter Cell as a co-op story was fantastic too. They should make another one like this one and add an online feature similar to Hitman where people can create their own levels. For me, it's one of the greatest games of all time. The Weapons and the Powers were also quite creatively curated and introduced.
@ssshjsssj50337 ай бұрын
I wouldn't say that. Ads were everywhere for that game leading up to its release, and even if the marketing was done better, I think it still would've flopped. The issue with Prey is that you can't really express the great parts about it in a quick surface level trailer. The game is obviously fantastic, but at a glance it's just going to be stuck looking like an incredibly generic shooter with aliens. That aside, the game was aggressively mid at launch if you factor in the bugs and absolutely HORRIFIC loading times, especially on console.
@sohamsarkar65457 ай бұрын
@@ssshjsssj5033 I thing that's one of many issues why the game didn't sell well. Immersive Simulators have always been that one particular genre of video games that the majority of people can't get into for some reason that I do not understand. Also, the trailers did show us and filled us in about the different powers, ways and tools that we would be having at our disposal for playing the game our way depending upon our play style and yes, as you said, people who got into it thinking it would be a satisfying first person shooter just set themselves up for a disappointment because the game is a far cry from being just a generic FPS title. Though I wish, this game would have had a sequel as the ending definitely hints towards it. The start of the game is slightly slow but exquisitely picks up the pace and the optimization was smooth as butter on PC but it was busted on consoles like you said until it was patched and worked upon.

And no imagery I watch about this game shows me that to be honest.

@takoshihitsamaru46757 ай бұрын
@@halfkoreanhalfamazing Agreed, aside from Charlie's stupid missions and 2 points in the game where you are forced to be detected, Blacklist is everything I wanted from a modern entry in the franchise. It's got non-lethal options, all the old gadgets plus the cool new ones from Conviction, tons and tons of animations for takedowns, shootable lights, body carrying/hiding, lots of customisation to play how you want, a really well written political espionage story with a fantastic villain, and of course, perfectionist difficulty 😌

Blacklist was a weird blend of Conviction and Double Agent that made an incredible Splinter Cell game that is the best one next to Chaos Theory.
@charoleawood7 ай бұрын
* a brilliant blend i got into Splinter Cell because of Conviction and i still love that game but i recognize it's an action game first and foremost and a stealth game second. i could never get into the other ones, but Blacklist did a superb job of bridging that gap between the two gameplay styles. Of course we missed Rasczak's voice but the man was going through cancer at the time. i also think that Conviction had a much better story than Blacklist, but Blacklist is by far the better game.
@takoshihitsamaru46757 ай бұрын
I'd argue that Double Agent (Ps2 version) had tons of Chaos Theory DNA and that Blacklist by virtue of borrowing from DA had that Chaos Theory element too. Blacklist is so much game too, people often overlook just how much bloody content you got from that 1 game, eventhough the DLC was cancelled. Do NOT regret that Collector's Edition pre-order, so good.

To me, there was too much repetiton. It became boring fairly quickly to me, I didn't have the feeling of making actual progress, because it took FOREVER to level up the last few ascension- and apocalypse tiers. Changes to loot drops also jsut made it worse for me. Played it for quite a long time, but ultimately just started yawning after playing one round.. so I quit. Also, game was unplayable for me on PS4, PS5 didn't really improve that. On PC, it was a lot of fun, until it became too repetitve for me.

I have to assume "Psi-ops: the mindgate conspiracy" didn't sell well because it never got a sequel, and that's a real shame. Psi-ops made much better use of psychic powers and physics than "control" and Psi-ops came out on the original xbox. The physics were amazing, and you could freaking tk surf man! You could hurl yourself at super speed all over the map, and that's on top of the other powers and abilities you got. Pyrokinesis, mind control, astral projection, you got way better guns, you could drive. it was awesome.

Blacklist is the only Splinter’s Cell game I have ever played. It was a rough start because the stealth mechanics were unforgiving. Repeated failures led to me getting better eventually, and when I beat the game for the first time, I felt I was ready to be a special agent in real life…you know, plotting a stealth route, where to hide and when to body roll while just walking around 😂. I thought it was the greatest stealth game and didn’t know why there was no follow up…it remains to be one of the few games I played through multiple times because I really enjoy the experience.

People do want new and original IP. They just don't want it to come out at the same time as their anticipated sequels, remakes, reboots, or remasters. The problem might be that the amount of people looking for a "new" or novel experience just isn't a large enough demographic to support it.

Actually, the issue is that when new ip's come out, they have zero creativity that games from years ago had. This is due to multiplatform development. Yes, it's nice to have the game on all systems, but creating a game for 3 systems is the same as making the games 3 separate times all at the same time. So, to make this possible, you have to give up on what made older games good in order to deliver that experience. All the remastered games were originally games that came out on one system. That means teams could master how to create games for that one system and focus more time on creativity in the games. Like naughty dogs, for example, pretty much every game they released has been a top game as they only had to make the games for Playstation only.

Worst thing a publisher can do with a brand new IP is release it in the run up to Christmas, when it's going to have to compete with all the established AAA franchises that drop at the same time... Put it out during the quieter part of the year and it might actually get noticed and played. I've lost count of the times good games got completely ignored because they came out the same week, or even the same day as some big AAA blockbuster. If they'd just delayed the launch by 6 months it might have been a big hit.
