@BradCooney8 жыл бұрын
IF you're an American, you enjoy the liberty and freedom to shoot your mouth off because good brave men in the armed forces died defending that freedom. Like I said before, if you have a problem with the US mission, fine, take your shots at the government. Don't disrespect the men and women in our military that are only following orders. If this country were ever to be invaded by an enemy, you'd be the first coward to run and hide behind a US Marine for safety. Now shut the fuck up.

I got to come home early once, I had been out six months on a nine month deployment when I twisted the shit out of my ankle. It got me two months leave and i come home . My wife and kids were gone out to eat when I got home so my brother helped me into the house and I sit in my recliner. My wife walked right past me and then just stopped. She turned around and lost it. She was pissed and happy at the same time and my at the time 3 kids came in and went wild.

My uncle was deployed a few years ago. We are all terrified. A few months later the news said that 6 men (all from his regiment) were killed by an IED. No names were given. My uncle was MIA for 4 days after catching some shrapnel in the back of his neck. He was paralysed and could not move. He was presumed dead. He was found alive. We are so thankful for that. We lost 6 men. Close family friends and all my uncle's best friends. Unless you have had family in the army. You can not understand the fear and stress of knowing that at any moment. You can get that call.

It wasn't a surprise military homecoming or anything, but I still remember when my family set up a surprise for my grandmother (who is still going strong at 97!). We were planning to surprise her by having some relatives (my aunt & cousin in particular) from out of state show up at the restaurant we were having dinner at. I remember that on the morning of the day we were going to pull off the surprise, I happened to hop onto Facebook right after waking up and got a bit of an "Oh Crap!" moment when I saw that my cousin had mentioned that their flight had been delayed and my stomach dropped as I quickly called my mom to tell her, but luckily my uncle was already aware of the issue and it ultimately resolved itself well enough that the surprise still went off without a hitch. We were planning the surprise as just a few days later my parents and I would be moving from NY down to WV, and a week later my grandmother would be following us down (if she hadn't moved with us, she would more than likely have wound up in a nursing home, since we would have been too far away to help her with anything, and the closest relatives she had, my uncle's family, were very often too busy to be able to get over to her house to help her out. Anytime she needed something it was usually me, my mom, or my dad who helped her. And at least now, she isn't living alone anymore, before we all moved she had been living alone since 1996 when her second husband (and the man I actually consider my grandfather despite him not being related to me by blood, since my mom's biological father [and thus, my biological grandfather] one day just up and left and never came back, leaving my grandmother to raise my mom alone until she eventually remarried) passed away from cancer, and since we moved in 2013 that was 17 years that she had lived alone like that.
