My dad was in the Air Force and was gone a lot. I was just a little girl but favorite memory is when my mom asked me what I wanted for my birthday and I told her all I wanted was my dad back home and I woke up a day before my birthday and my dad was home. I will never forget that these are our men and women that fight for us but please don’t forget about their families

It wasn't a deployment, but after graduating college, I moved 1300 miles from my family. I went home to surprise my grandparents on my birthday, I'm so happy I did because they both passed away in the next two years. I miss them so much.

I have several members of my family in the Military from Nieces and Nephews to my Son who just turned 18! Unfortunately I am 63 and probably won't be around to experience what they're experiencing with my Son so I do the best I can to not take the times I have with Him for Granted!

I wish the military would go back to not allowing utilities to be worn off base . I don’t know when this changed but when I was active it always was wear your class A uniform off base or civilian clothes .

I may be wrong but a lot of these could be returning from deployments and they wear their utility uniform on return flight then maybe be dismissed upon arrival and don't take time to change just get me to the flipping house 😊😊

Serious question, Why do most of these servicemen turn up wearing fatigues instead of dress uniforms? While I served in the UK Royal Navy, we were never allowed to go out in public wearing fatigues except on official business, it was normally No2 dress uniform (red badges and ribbons instead of the gold badges and medals worn on No1 dress uniforms) or civilian clothing.
