I wish my dad would come back from his deployment in heaven Edit: thank you everyone for your heartfelt kindness, I was 11 when I lost him, but now I'm 16 trying my best go forward and this is my advice to those who lost someone special. Don't try to get rid of the pain, keep it with you as a reminder of the person who believed in you to the very end.

My dad was in the Air Force and was gone a lot. I was just a little girl but favorite memory is when my mom asked me what I wanted for my birthday and I told her all I wanted was my dad back home and I woke up a day before my birthday and my dad was home. I will never forget that these are our men and women that fight for us but please don’t forget about their families

It wasn't a deployment, but after graduating college, I moved 1300 miles from my family. I went home to surprise my grandparents on my birthday, I'm so happy I did because they both passed away in the next two years. I miss them so much.

Being a child, parent, or sibling of someone who is deployed far from home is so hard on all of us! That is why when we do get to see them the memories we have at that time helps us get through to the next time as a mom who has a son that was stationed in Japan. It has been very hard to see him, but I am thankful I get to see his face through FaceTime when he goes on deployment out to sea It is so hard because I don’t know where he’s at, and I don’t get to talk to him or see his face. much love and respect to all those who serve in our arm forces. there is no idea of the responsibility, loneliness and isolation a wife suffers under when on her own, when someone is deployed. i spent a career. the USN actually gave my wife an honor for being a career navy wife when i retired. our nation gave her full military honors just for toughing it out with me. it's incredible what families go through in the military. god bless the USA.
