True. Prison is a whole another world and the rules are different.
@JohnDoe-pd2lh Жыл бұрын
People who haven't been don't get it. There's two sets of rules in prison. The administration's rules, and the convict's rules. The first set will get you more time if you disobey. The 2nd set often requires you to break the administration's rules, and you risk your life if you don't follow the convict rules. It's a shit situation. Nevermind that there's prisons where you practically have to clique up for your own safety, and getting involved with gangs is almost guaranteed to extend your sentence. Even if you do survive and get released, you now have a felony conviction that makes it near impossible to get a decent job (or in some cases, depending on your charge, any job). So now there's few options besides continuing to be a criminal. It all amounts to a vicious cycle, and all it takes is one simple mistake to derail your entire life. It isn't justice. It isn't rehabilitative. It's a system that turns once normal people into career criminals, and all too often, into monsters.

Only one thing wrong with that narrative you wrote- and that is try staying out of prison in the first place. You don’t go to prison for 5 miles over the speed limit. I’ll never go to prison because I don’t hurt people, sell drugs or go on a rampage at a school. Pretty simple rule for a good life.
@JohnDoe-pd2lh10 ай бұрын
@@backagain5216 A good approach, but it isn't fool proof. Sometimes it's just a matter of being in the wrong place at the wrong time. It's estimated the number of wrongful convictions may be as high 5-6%. But this isn't about wrongful convictions, what leads people there, or even whether it's deserved. It's about the fact that it's a very flawed system, and it often turns men into monsters.

Races do generally associate together but theres not the anomosity , issues are between individuals who have done wrong , e.g. borrowed a pack of biscuits and not paid , race doesnt come into it. Theres isnt the homo stuff either, if someone was going around putting themselves on people in that way they would get dealt with. There is a bit of a religious comradeship with the muslims but thats the nearest thing to a "gang" , with that said i got out last in 2009 it may be different now with the rap scene happening in england.

Ordinary guys are then recruited by the hard line gangs and then used as tools to suit whichever purpose benefits that particular gang . Sadly guys doing a short term sometimes end up as lifers ... The prison system is responsible for this as it is reactionary instead of categorising prisoners and the danger they may pose within the system at the onset .

Its crazy to think that the powers that be are MORE than capable of preventing these situations from EVER occurring, but choose not to. This in turn PROVES that those same powers couldn’t care less about rehabilitation. Im all for people going to prison, and serving a sentence that fits their crime, but a prisoner should have the right to serve that sentence, without outside influences making it more difficult. All prisoners should be sentenced ONE time, and thats by a judge or jury. Prisoners shouldn’t have to worry about their fellow prisoners, warden, or CO’s, giving them another. #USprisonsystemisfucked

Dude, how much money would it cost to individually house these guys 24 hours a day for decades then they would submit lawsuits for cruel and usual punishment by keep them alone in a cell. It sucks that you have to join a cart , and possibly commit a serious felony when you’re only doing time for selling drugs or something like that.

The fact is that the US Prison System is counter-productive and overly expensive. It does not rehabilitate people. It does not deter people. If it did, then either recidivism or incarceration would be lowering as more prisons are built. Both rates are generally increasing. Meanwhile, our government at every level spends ridiculous amounts of money to incarcerate individuals. I don't know what the answer is, but I do know this. The current status quo with increasing rates and costs for incarceration is NOT sustainable. We can't keep incarcerating more people and paying more money per person.

Everybody is always talking about prisons not being rehabilitative. That’s because they aren’t meant to be a place to rehabilitate. It’s a place meant to punish you for whatever wrongdoing you are guilty of. There is no carpet, everything is metal, breakfast is at like 3:00 am and dinner is at 4:00 in the afternoon, the food sucks…it’s all meant to be unpleasant and uncomfortable. You are being punished. Not one single person in the prison system gives a f’ about you. If you are locked up there then you are a POS to them and that’s how they treat you.

There must have been something wrong with the guy who died. It's super hard to beat someone to death. It's not easy. Professional fighters beat guys and almost never someone dies.

I did time in a few Pennsylvania State Prisons. You have some gang activity, 215, a philly based white gang, bloods/crips, mostly from Pittsburgh, some skinheads, etc.But one thing about Pa. prisons is you can be non- affiliated and no one will bother you. Just stay in your lane, fall back and your cool.
