I just bought this and wanted it for a year or more but put it off. Just used my Ryobi trimmer as the edger. I have the same Ryobi head/motor unit and it does feel underpowered for this accessory plus for heavy use, meaning a kind of out-of-control grass/lawn edge, mine motor cuts out as it appears to get hot and the motor protects itself. I'm talking like just in 10 feet. If you have a manicured lawn with an already well-edged lawn and are just weekly touching up then this will likely work much better. Also to blade metal seems soft as in I don't see it holding up for years of light-med use before it is worn down. Example weekly for a yard with 200 -300 feet of edging for example. I might have to take it back. I wasn't even aware of the brushless motor/head or maybe I didn't want to pay the additional $40 but $40 isn't that much if there's a substantial gain in power and longevity of battery output.

Do you think with the gas powered model it might be stronger? Prob gonna purchase the gas powered $180 weed wacker tomorrow with this attachment

Weed trimmer is very easy to restring I have the edger attachment and works great. I’m ordering a 9Ah battery for the leaf blower it has a 4Ah and drains fast. Great yard tools no gas to mix and no cords to mess with.

I have all Ryobi Tools and the Edger sucks the batter fast. Bought 4 Vanon 6 hr batteries for $60 on Amazon and now have enough juice for whatever I’m doing. Only bad thing I have to say about it is the weight. My forearms are sore after edging and whacking😂

Good to see them expand the line. ive felt theyve been sorely lacking in the expand it line.

Agreed! It would be nice to see more love shown to the expand it line!

I'd still like to know what Expand It things can you get for the One+ version? Everywhere I look everyone says, can't use that, it has to work with a 40V version. Need a Hedge Trimmer expand it for a One+ expand it string trimmer.

The brushless model is definitely the way to go - much better on the battery and way stronger

I have the same setup. Try using the 4amp hour battery. I've noticed a difference between the 2.6 and the 4 Amp hour battery. The 4 has more power. I'm in south central Florida on the east coast. Thanks Bob

I have this edger attachment. I haven’t used any other brand so I don’t have anything to compare it to. It may also be user error. But whenever I edge my lawn it ends up getting dirt/mud all stuck up in it. So I have to stop and use a putty knife to scrape it out before I can use it again. I’d say every few minutes or so I have to stop and do this. So maybe that’s normal. Maybe it’s user error. Maybe my soil is just very clay like and rough on edgers. It gets the job done though so I can’t complain.

Brushless model helps for sure. It only struggles if it gets full of dirt and gets stopped up.
@SolelyRyobi4 жыл бұрын
Thanks Nathan! That is good to know. Even at the end of this little test we noticed that there was a significant amount of trapped dirt... and others have complained about the same... design flaw? We will do some more testing...
@bkelevate4 жыл бұрын
@@SolelyRyobi idk if design flaw or user error. Wish I had more experience with them. But I agree it seems to trap a lot of dirt. Maybe the gap needs to be a little wider than it is? There's just not much room between the plastic shield and the blade. Would love to see more testing though. And if you guys find out a way to avoid getting dirt trapped in it that would be fantastic.

There are 2-stroke, 4-stroke, 40V, and 18V models of expand-it trimmers.

Thank you very much for the video. Never edge before. And I am glad to watch urs before I operate. Save my fingers, maybe. Also Surprised to find that there aren’t many videos.

Hello, was wondering if it would be possible to test the snow shovel attachment for the expand it line. Also could you test both the 18v and 40v power heads.

Thanks for the review but I hate this product, 1 it drains the battery in10 minutes 2, the dirt gets trapped after a minute of use!
@SolelyRyobi4 жыл бұрын
Thanks Z Zuby! We don't have a lot to edge so it hasn't clogged up on us yet. But even in the little we have used it, there has been a significant amount of dirt that gets trapped...

I have this same setup. We live on a corner. I can edge the street all the way around the corner and the the driveway. Half a battery. You may be to aggressive trying to get everything in one pass. Try working it back and forth as you move forward. Hope that helps Bob
@urielfulgencio52853 жыл бұрын
@@robertmcdonnold3038 does your battery waste of fast ? I live in a corner too but I just order it but then saw this comment saying the battery waste quick , I think that’s with most battery weed wackers/edgers but as a corner house it does have a big grass area of course
@bekind20473 жыл бұрын
Suppose you tried it on wet soil - just wait for the next heat wave
@zzuby42763 жыл бұрын
Now I removed the dust guard or dust plate guard where the dirt & wet grass got trapped using a saw & the problem is now solved but you will definitely need eye protection if you remove that.
