Any solenoid that is PWM don't manual energize or you will most likely burn it up, just a word of advice to the viewers. An example would be the vent valve on a LDP pump. Thanks for another great video Danner.

I agree we need to be careful with PWM solenoids. I have however energized many of them manually with no issues. (Ford EGR EVR solenoids, GM Linear EGR valve to name a few). Good warning still though Neil Z. thank you!

It will be a while. I need to familiarize myself with the newest updates. The last thing I want to do is regurgitate someone else information. It needs to be my own uses and findings if you know what I mean.

Is there a way to tell from a wiring diagram if the egr solenoid in this video is normally opened or normally closed, how would you know?
@ScannerDannerPremium10 жыл бұрын
Not on the wiring diagram but possibly in a description and operation of the system. Bottom line, it should change state when you energize it.

did we get expanation about GDIs systems i missed it how to test them?
I know I'm not going to explain this well but I love your classes that's why I put my money where my mouth is. I just would like to give the perspective of a newbie using your pay channel. I have gone through all the videos up to this lecture in the order you have them and this older series is the first one that has a hands on explanation immediately during the classroom lecture for reinforcement. Often you would give a link during lecture of a case study that I would go hunt down while I paused the main lecture then come back which is ok but breaks the flow. I would be jealous of how you would tell the class after lunch we will work on a vehicle using the techniques we just discussed but the next video I would see is the next lecture topic. I would but a video of actual ground side switching back probing during your classroom explanation then the power side switching lecture part with an immediate hands on demo of that power side switching on a car [real time] just like you did here with the changing state of a solenoid that's normally on. What I wanted to see was you back probing a car ground side or power side So immediate reinforcement of classroom lecture with actual on car probing would be great I know you do it but more is better. I understand your main job is teaching that class and us subscribers are secondary. Also its great that you set up the probe but before you show the answer you ask us what voltage it should read thats awesome cause I will pause the video then draw diagrams and try to get the answer then hit play. You have great lectures and great real case studies I just think they need to be integrated more and I understand its a work in progress. Anyways keep up the great work because your passion for the subject comes through in your excellent work and I don't mind paying money for that!

+Bruce Ismond Thanks Bruce. I am learning what works best as I go and appreciate the feedback. You would be correct though, in my classroom, my students come first, not my KZbin channel. If I was only teaching to you guys, I would do it exactly as you described. The other issue I have with employing this method in my class is, it is only an 8 week class! Imagine if I demonstrated every testing procedure, right after the lecture. It would take me 6 months to get through the material. In the future, things could change but right now I have to cram as much in as possible in this 8 week course.

I'd get a fuel injector tester and manually energize the solenoids that way, But disconnected from the system.

+Poochie43124312 nothing wrong with being extra cautious. But what do you do when you can't get to the solenoid?
