Hi Kev. I didn’t laugh at your struggles with the wave breaker but I smiled at the times you stood back to admire (worry about?) your work despite the video being speeded up! Great stuff, as always.

We had a chance to visit Kev in Toyama. The boat is huge! The detailing is superb, and Kev’s skills are top notch; only surpassed by his hospitality. Thanks again for having us. Regards! Dan.

Well done Kev. It must be so rewarding to see her take shape...one piece at a time. I think your aim to build a safe and well-finished hull is being achieved. Keep it up and if the going gets tough - be encouraged! Blessings.

Hi Kev,love your work, curious to know,does the designer call for a light glass layer over ply eg 200grm plainweave or similar over ply or just a multiple resin coat , fair and paint ? Great work cheers from oz.
@saltlightdix4704
@saltlightdix4704 Жыл бұрын
Hi Edward, basically 3 coats of resin over the plywood and then paint. There are a couple of areas that I’m thinking to put some glass, high traffic areas ect…… still thinking it through Kev

Good lord, that nail gun gets a real work out. Great way to ensure uniform clamping of concave surfaces. Do you use stainless steel nails?
@saltlightdix4704
@saltlightdix4704 5 ай бұрын
Absolutely, not 316 but 304 stainless.Yeah I have used the staple gun a lot especially doing the radius chines of the hulls. Kev

Really enjoying watching the process and how it develops. I know very little about catamarans ... a question if I may; does the design of the one you are building lean more towards a performance catamaran or more towards the style where performance is sacrificed somewhat for wider hulls and more accommodation etc?
@saltlightdix4704
@saltlightdix4704 5 ай бұрын
I’m happy you are enjoying the videos. Yes it is definitely a performance cat, however, whilst it has dagger boards I chose the keel version. I have heard from someone who has sailed both types and there wasn’t a marked difference between them. Keels are quicker, easier and cheaper, though they would have been much easier while the hulls were upside down, but alas, the building isn’t high enough so they will have to go on when I get it outside. Hmmm, Ill have a look and see if I can find something. I don't always film everything as its quite time consuming and some days just don't allow for that extra time Kev

Hi Kev, I love watching your progress. Is the entire hull triple skinned on the inside or is that done where chain plates will be located? Also what are those two compartments going to be? Cheers Phil
@saltlightdix4704
@saltlightdix4704 Жыл бұрын
Hi Phil, just the wave breaker has 3 layers of 3mm, only to be able to create the curve. The windlass and chain locker is in the right and the left is just storage. Kev
