Solex Pict 30/31 cleaning and reconditioning step by step

first time replacing and cleaning parts in a Solex Pict 30/31 carburetor, I replaced with larger main jet, idle jets, and emulsion tube. the carburetor now works great it consumes more gas than before but I gained more power and it idles great now.

i bought the same, are there is not way to working... it's has main jet 120 ( i bought 127,5 coz i have 009 distribuitor ) idle jet 50 power jet 65 air correction 125z. all the time the butterfly is open it seems it drowns and goes out all the time ,it's impossible! but when i close just close to the aire correction it doenst turn off but it has more revolutions

ian franchini Before spending more money check first if there is excessive play on the butterfly shaft “wiggle” is so that could be the problem and that can’t be fixed. If there is no play then, it could be that the air passages are clogged, try to disassemble it, dip it in Berryman Products 0996-Arm Chemical Dip Parts Cleaner over night rinse all the parts with warm water and reassemble with a good quality kit.

How many washers should be used on the float needle valve? How high should the needle valve sit? How to measure so it’s correct? My carb is leaking fuel into engine oil... replaced needle valve and used old washer. Car has new fuel pump and also added a fuel regulator to reduce fuel pressure on the carb

Hi Simon G. Asuming you ask for Solex 30 pict 1 or Solex Pict 31 carburetors: No washers should be used between the float needle valve. There should only be a seal ring between the upper carburetor cover and the float needle valve. This seal ring can be made of copper, aluminium or ordinary seal material. Those seals are always part of a good quality carburetor refubish kit. The hight of the needle valve is not adjustable, as it's just the upper carburetor part, the seal ring and the needle valve. According to that it's not needed to measure anything on that part of the carburetor. Its extremely unlikely that a Solex 30 pict 1 or a Solex Pict 31 used on a VW Beetle leaks fuel into your oil. If there is still getting fuel into your motoroil your fuelpump seals are most likely damaged.

Ceasreo Gomez I don’t understand your question, you are asking me which kit to buy? I have no idea what carburetor you have, I suggest to call JBugs with your carburetor specs, they will tell you which kit you need.

14:32 What sizes of jets, and in which position did you put for the Idle and Auxiliary jets on the side of the carb? The angled jet, and the straight jet on the passenger side. I've read a lot of contradictory information on which one is the idle, and which one is the aux jet. Have even read that one is a "power jet", some say its for a "dual" idle circuit. My carb came with a 65 in the angled position and a 50 in the straight position. I have tried swapping them out but it only seems to run OK with the 65 in the angled, and a 50 or 55 in the straight. Curious to know your thoughts! (Or anyone else who has info on that matter)
