No solid axle swap needed here, I own a 84' 4X4. Just did a cab and bed swap so now I have a newer rig. I did the V6 front brake upgrade which put the rotors on the outside of the hub, brake jobs on the front no longer requires me to remove the entire hub.

Great info as always! I performed my differential drop on my 1stgen 02’ Tundra SR5 TRD 4wd years ago as it was as stated help counter Axle stress articulation, wear n’ tear for ifs. I will leave it where it is as I have had no issues by having it in my older generation Toyota. Markets of all types, always find an opportunity to take advantage of the consumer nothing new. I’m glad we have some one out here doing the math on these modifications we are spending good money on🙌🏽 All in all, Super mathematical geometrical info!

I’ve seen people weld a cap on the inner tube of the driveshaft and shove a bunch of grease in the outer tube so when you slide the inner tube in it will compress the grease into the walls and fill in the gap to help with rattling. While the 4wd ain’t engaged

The landcruiser tie rod ends and high steer arms are already a great upgrade. I'd almost say the heims are a downgrade lol. Heims are stronger but they wear out a lot faster as well. I run heim steering because I had to on a custom setup but ideally I'd just run a factory 1 ton tie rod end.

Nice job man I have a 2003 with ifs I'm hanging to straight axle it. I noticed you putting the snap ring on over the axle that's why it broke, you need to slip them over the ends it makes it so much easier to put on and take apart. I had to destroy mine to get it apart on the 80 Series.

@@66Duffman Awesome! I was looking at about the same cost in parts. My budget will be about $2500 and $3100 being at max. I weld, so fabricating my own stuff and going to steel salvage yard would save me a lot. I'm going with leaf spring suspension, with the Toyota steering box/leaf hanger perch/dana 30 or 44 axle with truss/chromoly axle shafts/reinforced inner C's/ chromoly tie rod, panhard bar heim joints/ lunch box lockers/ 4.56 gears/ 33x12.50r15 interco thornbirds with custom tread cutouts, 6" lift/front/rear bumper winch and Overall, I have most of this stuff in the making. its gonna be sick ass build!! Great job on your video! I am using yours as a guide and it has been very helpful!! i am in the middle of the same thing on the same year truck and I have a question.. on the shackle tube (rear) Trail Gear says "Center tube then then 1/4" and weld." The frame makes a jog right at that spot. SO.. is the offset on the outside of the frame 1/4" and where do you measure the 1/4"? Thats all the tube sticks out on the outside? If thats correct then the tube on the inside sticks way farther out. Can you help me out with what is going on here?

I have an 85 2WD pickup, would this kit work?
@RadRover99
@RadRover99 9 ай бұрын
No. It’s 2wd you don’t have transfer case, driveshaft, nothing. You could theoretically do this but it’ll be useless without 4wd.

You should use your IFS hubs with the solid axle lockouts and you gain 1.5" per side. You have all the parts and you could ditch the 3" spacers or at least just run the 1.5" spacers.

I’m trying to this now and I’m having a issue with the tacoma rotors not spinning when I nut an bolt the caliper/ what size washer did you use to space it by chance ? It’s the last thing I need until the truck works!
