Great info as always! I performed my differential drop on my 1stgen 02’ Tundra SR5 TRD 4wd years ago as it was as stated help counter Axle stress articulation, wear n’ tear for ifs. I will leave it where it is as I have had no issues by having it in my older generation Toyota. Markets of all types, always find an opportunity to take advantage of the consumer nothing new. I’m glad we have some one out here doing the math on these modifications we are spending good money on🙌🏽 All in all, Super mathematical geometrical info!

@@66Duffman I’m going a little different route I have a open 4:88 diff , a hanger that puts the axles a little futher out so I have to relocate the ps has to move about 3” forward, going rears up front an 63” in the back I’m so excited you have no idea! Can’t wait to see more on your build

@@66Duffman Awesome! I was looking at about the same cost in parts. My budget will be about $2500 and $3100 being at max. I weld, so fabricating my own stuff and going to steel salvage yard would save me a lot. I'm going with leaf spring suspension, with the Toyota steering box/leaf hanger perch/dana 30 or 44 axle with truss/chromoly axle shafts/reinforced inner C's/ chromoly tie rod, panhard bar heim joints/ lunch box lockers/ 4.56 gears/ 33x12.50r15 interco thornbirds with custom tread cutouts, 6" lift/front/rear bumper winch and Overall, I have most of this stuff in the making. its gonna be sick ass build!! (I GOT PICTURES)💪🏻🤙🏻

I’ve seen people weld a cap on the inner tube of the driveshaft and shove a bunch of grease in the outer tube so when you slide the inner tube in it will compress the grease into the walls and fill in the gap to help with rattling. While the 4wd ain’t engaged

pro tip, those snap rings are easier to install, if you DONT stretch them out like you did prior to installing into the CV stub. i always push them on the shaft from the end. kinda like a jimmy hat lol

Nice job man I have a 2003 with ifs I'm hanging to straight axle it. I noticed you putting the snap ring on over the axle that's why it broke, you need to slip them over the ends it makes it so much easier to put on and take apart. I had to destroy mine to get it apart on the 80 Series.

Nice 👍.. that front end flexes good..That thing is gonna be a Beast when the rear catches up with the front. Ditch the blocks on the rear and order some Deavers from Jeff. On my XJ Ricky at Empire driveline in Ontario do good work . I ordered chromoly shaft double Cardin with twice the slip for $365 a lil bit pricey but worth it . I’m sure they can set you up .

You are correct…since they springs have settled the shackle angle has gotten more straight angling slightly back

No solid axle swap needed here, I own a 84' 4X4. Just did a cab and bed swap so now I have a newer rig. I did the V6 front brake upgrade which put the rotors on the outside of the hub, brake jobs on the front no longer requires me to remove the entire hub.

In South Africa...The Hilux came with straight axle from 83 all the wat to 98...We did however not get the 4 Runner and the Xtra Cab. We did however get a single cab and double cab or crew cab as you know it. IFS only came in from 99/200 onwards.

Great job on your video! I am using yours as a guide and it has been very helpful!! i am in the middle of the same thing on the same year truck and I have a question.. on the shackle tube (rear) Trail Gear says "Center tube then then 1/4" and weld." The frame makes a jog right at that spot. SO.. is the offset on the outside of the frame 1/4" and where do you measure the 1/4"? Thats all the tube sticks out on the outside? If thats correct then the tube on the inside sticks way farther out. Can you help me out with what is going on here?

Sure thing i thing it’s 1/4 the outside…we just made sure the leafs were lined up straight with everything bolted together…tacked it then checked before permanently welding it

The landcruiser tie rod ends and high steer arms are already a great upgrade. I'd almost say the heims are a downgrade lol. Heims are stronger but they wear out a lot faster as well. I run heim steering because I had to on a custom setup but ideally I'd just run a factory 1 ton tie rod end.

When you have a problem with the shaft what I did with my pick up I put some shims so it can tilt the axle some degrees and connect with the shaft but even with the shims I had the problem so I made one my self

When u go with the solid axle swap, besides modifying the front drive shaft do u have to swap the transfer case as well

No you can use the stock transfer case…although I recommend a manual transmission swap so you can use the 4 cylinder gear driven Tcase

No. It’s 2wd you don’t have transfer case, driveshaft, nothing. You could theoretically do this but it’ll be useless without 4wd.

Я из России, Санкт -Петербург. хочу сказать что независимая подвеска хороша только для дальних расстояний ,плавности хода ,и уменьшения расхода топлива. Для езды по бездрожожью, это то еще дерьмо. За лето я поменял два ведра разных запчастей с передней подвески.

Абсолютно согласен. Я шаровые меняю чаще, чем тормозные колодки. На 33" тапочках гоняю
