Yes, its amazing on how Irene Cara went from her start on "The Electric Company" in the early 70's to super stardom with the number one song of 1984. She was awesome!!

Brings me back memories. 1983 is my favourite year of music, when it comes to nostalgia since that was the year that I started listening and appreciating music. This is a combination of Irene Cara lip syncing to the original single and extended versions (0:51 - 2:21 and 4:57 - 6:52) and Irene singing live over the music track (2:38 - 4:42). And then you throw in those incredible dancers - at 5:52 Irene is holding her own! A time capsule of more innocent times and true musicianship and art.

Lip syncing is a performance in and of itself as it free the performer from undue stress so they can fully convey the emotion the songs inspire, Just a case of knowing too much for ones own good about lip syncing instead of just enjoying the great songs and seeing the performers.

Thank you, Jeff,.. for the video and e-mail! I feel that I was born in the wrong era/generation!.. The 80's seem like such a happy, "feel good" time! I spent my pre-teen/early teen years listening to depressing/angry music!... And, hearing about how artists like Shannon Hoon, Kurt Cobain, and Tupac Shakur were either gunned-down, in cold blood, or overdosed on drugs!... It's only now that music is going back to that "feel good" style! Unfortunately,. now I'm closer to 30 than I am to 13!.. :(
