Oh yes! I would strongly suggest this album to be one of your full album reviews! It has very cool atmosphere but also varies nicely from song to another! Thanks! ❤

That would be interesting to see. This album is my second-favorite from Katatonia (and I agree with your description).

One of the most underrated bands out there. I love them so much for their diversity of songs. ❤❤❤

I heard this song on the radio in 2012 and instantly had to dig into their discography. Hadn't heard anything with this atmosphere at the time

This is not the first Katatonia album I fell in love with, but probably the one I remember most fondly after all these years. And seeing them live right after it dropped was even better.

This album has lots of the verse chorus structures, but ... thing going on (expanding the norm and familiar). It has a lot of diversity while maintaining the dark atmospheric vibe that this track has (track 1). The whole album feels like a journey. Also you mentioned the high hat moment from the drummer. Daniel who is no longer the drummer (and they have a good drummer now) used to do some unusual things with the symbols. I liked that aspect of their mid era. It was different to the double kick bass cliché metal thing. He really integrated a contrasting rhythmic liveliness to the morbid monotonous vibe of their music in a way that suited well.

Can you do a reaction of Catharsis by Daniel Tompkins? I think you’d appreciate the production and vocal control. Maybe even the music theory mastery of Tool in the future as well

One of my favorite Katatonia tunes. Regarding choruses, I don't think they necessarily need to be catchy in a traditional commercial pop music sense. A good chorus works well to create some sort of emotional release within the song structure, and to complement and be the top of the iceberg. It serves the song to be memorable, but I think the need for it to be specifically "catchy" isn't true. It just needs to help the song stand out.

Excellent job of fucking up a good song with un-called-for in-song-comments.
