I have a short video on amino acid synthesis (kzbin.info/www/bejne/hHmxYmegeJKVqc0). It is tricky since amino acids usually need to be enantiopure. I show one example of enantioselective synthesis at the end of my video. These methods are commonly used to make non-natural amino acids. For producing natural amino acids it is usually cheaper/easier to use genetically engineered bacteria that overproduce individual amino acids. Unfortunately that area is outside of my expertise.
