Heat transfer with both conduction and convection can be analyzed directly inside of SOLIDWORKS using the Computational Fluid Dynamics (CFD) capabilities of SOLIDWORKS Flow Simulation. These is particular useful when you need to examine the heat transfer between two different fluids, such as air and a liquid, for heat exchanger applications in everything from automotive components to medical devices

My calculation says it'll take 6 hours for 700 seconds of heat flow.. how do I decrease the mesh size?

Do you have to define any contact regions like in the thermal simulator?

is it hard to make a simulation of a fan transferring flow of air in a machine to make it cool?? well, the machine is about 105C and the time of duration to cool it down is about 23 mins.. can solidwoks make that simulation? Please answer, thanks,

Hi, I'm designing an aluminum cooling block aswell. However, I'm experiencing difficulties when I try to determine the outlet temperature of the flow. Currently, my inlet is defined as a fixed volume flow rate at 70C. The outlet of the flow is defined as environmental pressure (which I used 1 ATM). I have a heat generation of 4.4 kW placed on the cooling block. When I run the analysis, the outlet temperature is shown to be 20C. This is WRONG, because the temperature of the fluid should rise as heat is transferred from the block material to the liquid. Please advise if you have a solution to this problem. Thanks!

Hi, This project should be set up as heat conduction in solids, analysis type internal. Under fluids choose the fluid type, for example water. For the solid choose the aluminum type. In wall conditions, choose Heat generation rate 4.4kW. Initial conditions will be by default, unless you have different requirements. Boundary conditions will be: Inlet-water flow rate m3/h or USGPM outlet - atmospheric pressure VERY IMPORTANT choose heat source "Heat Generation Rate" 4.4kW Set surface goal on the outlet for the temperature This should do it, but If you have questions, you can e-mail me at ognen14@gmail.com
