There are other brands of PDM software or you could use things like network storage. Each of these thing have their own pros and cons. Data management is a key part of any engineering enterprise so it is crucial to make the right choice for your organization.

really wish they would give you the license server serial number with a student edition to be able to run PDM standard, they give you all the components to install so went through the whole process of creating a sql server thinking I could start using it as its included with standard and premium, installed components and set everything up all the way to the end were oops you can't create a vault without a server license. @@goengineer
