PDM Professional is better in almost everything when it comes to Datamanagment. 3DExperiance is simply a dead project. There are so many painpoints and it is not even needed to dig deep... Managing Metadata to files, handling Configurations, virtual Components or even try to have an revisionhistory on your drawing (not even asking for one that is by norm) I would say anybody that have had or used a PDM before will be disapointed. We have had to reduce the price of SolidWorks in order to gift the 3DExpience to the customers... says everything For example... sure you could view data online... but when you want to measure something you have to switch the App... try to fix an issue (spelling or something), the 3DExperiance is designed for perfect usage, making no issues and assume SolidWorks itself doesn't make some. try to upgrade your data to the new release... good luck try to extract all your data from the Data Prison.... try to save time with 3dx... give me a break :D

Hello Jens, thank you for your comment! While PDM Professional is certainly a powerful solution that is a valid choice for certain organizations, 3DEXPERIENCE does offer many benefits. The platform is capable of handling many of the things you have mentioned such as metadata, configurations, and revision history. 3DEXPERIENCE is undergoing rapid development and is introducing vast new functionality with every release and is far from a dead project. It provides organizations with a low IT overhead solution and opens the doors to data and lifecycle management for organizations that were not able to justify it previously. Both PDM Professional and 3DEXPERIENCE provide powerful capabilities. It's just a matter of finding the right fit for one’s organization.
