Review the Heat Transfer differential equation: It has three parts: (1) Variation of Temperature over time (2) Variation of Temperature over distance or area (3) Q --> Heat Generation. Governing Heat Equation: (1) = (2) + Q (1) has specific heat and density in the equation. In steady state analysis - time goes to infinity and that part of the equation disappears. You may want to review the 1D or 2D Heat equations with the steady state assumption (Laplace's equation). Hope this helps.
