when I tried to do this it said "the segment intersected does not intersect therefore no tangency relationship will be created" and it won't work, do you know what I'm doing wrong?

Would a Standard Lock mate between to rotating prices accomplish the same thing as a 1:1 Gear mate? If so, is there a computational difference between the two that would result in any major difference in rendering between a large assembly using a Standard Lock verses a Mechanical Gear 1:1?

The only thing seems wrong, is that second 45 degree gear and next flat one on the same shaft are turning opposite directions, which is impossible :)

Use a gear mate. Fix the "rack" That way only the other gear rotates.

Thanks for this video. I wonder how to make and animate a limitation on the movement from the cam follower, by lets say a nut on the rod that prevents it from going all the way down to the cam.

You can use a limit distance mate, or a point to surface mate will also terminate on the end of a surface, so it functions in much the same manner.

Not specifically. You'd have to run a motion simulation and analyze the motion yourself.

when i do my mates the gears do not move instantaneously....why is that?

It takes a bit to compute, so if your cpu is a little slower, there will be some lag.

I realized in the last 8 years, I've cut down on saying that quite a bit. Perhaps it's because I was saying it wrong
