It also remains to be seen that if, and this is likely, he was recruited by IS, if this happened before the attempts to deport him or afterwards. If it was afterwards, then all huffing and puffing about how all of this could have been prevented if the authorities were more strict and organized when it comes to deportatitons, falls flat. Because we don't live in the wordl of "Minority Report" and don't have a Pre-Crime departure that predicts all possible outcomes of the future. So concentrating on cutting off people from IS and their recruiters, is much more important, than any knee-jerk reactions about how to stop migration.

One major problem is that lone perpetrators most times don't have much of a direct connection to terrorist groups. They don't communicate about their plans much. They radicalize themselves through the internet or otherwise. We don't know if in this case he was in fact an Islamistic terrorist or saw himself as one. Nevertheless the lack of communication and sharing plans makes predicting these attacks from hard to close to impossible. I wonder why this guy didn't manage to get himself killed. This is what islamistic terrorists usually are aiming for. He is apparently alive and he turned himself in to the authorities. What's also some kind of unusual for Islamistic terrorists. Maybe his psychological state plays a somewhat stronger role in his actions as the proposed connection to islamistic terrorist groups. (This doesn't say that extremist radicalization can't lead or isn't connected to some kind of severe mental illness) As he is alive and in custody our authorities do have the chance to interrogate him. Hopefully they will find out what the motive of his actions were. In case it wasn't a factual islamistic motivated attack I don't know it'd be much of a difference for our society as a whole. The victims suffer, refugees will be treated worse and the ones who want to spread hatred will use this attack for their own vile motives. I for myself can only hope it could be a sign that the Islamistic terror is less of a threat. At least to an extent that our authorities are able to manage and protect us from bigger terrorist attacks.

Worse, the way IS operate is very pernicious: they are indeed trying to rile up the "native" populations of western countries against Muslims, just so they start making the lives of ordinary muslims more difficult, thereby making it easier for IS and others to radicalise those muslims. Everything in this world sucks compared to the realm of 72 deflorations (To which Lemmy Kilmister would reply with the question what he's supposed to do on the second day of eternity.). Why would a Jihadi who has gone all in and is basically knocking on heaven's door with a killing spree not collect his ultimate reward? What motivates him to survive such an attack and live in misery in a prison? That makes me doubt this attack was really by islamitic motivation. It's obvious, that they still don't want to deal with it, but the increasing pressure from the upcoming elections are forcing them to make at least some token moves. Well, we'll see. But I'm very worried, personally. The consequences this divide in the population could have for our society is far more serious than the actual threat from terrorists. Not to downplay that. @@Wolfspaule I'm not treating it as an "insulated incident". Did you not listen to what I actually said? I'm not trying to "protect the perpetrator", I am (as I explained) following the usual rules about identifying suspects. I gave most of his name (his surname is censored in line with German law, but it's a very common name for an ethnic Arab) and showed his photo. I said nothing about his upbringing because (a) I don't know anything about his upbringing and (b) it's not relevant. I never said anything about what any politicians should or shouldn't do, because again, that's irrelevant to this video. It is a legitimate subject for debate, just not on this video which simply about what we know for sure about the facts of this one specific case. I already addressed the "zero description" thing in my previous video. In fact, I also mentioned right at the beginning of this video. And as for the politician who "decided to withhold information" -- which politician was this, and what information did he withhold?

This kind of incident is being used more and more in the social networks, as I know it from history from the pamphlets in the Thirty Years' War, where Turks in particular were used as an enemy image, which stands for the other, the foreign, which embodied the barbaric and violent. Not yet on KZbin, but elsewhere, especially 9gag is running hot with memes that, like these old pamphlets, reinforce opinions by often repeating these opinions, where simple stereotypes are built up.

Whether he was a terrorist or not, the question Europeans have to ask themselves is this: Is the cheap labor provided by mass immigration worth it? All politics aside, that is the question.
@rewboss4 ай бұрын
It's not really the question in this case, because he's not allowed to work. He's been granted the protection of the German state, not a work visa.
@80sRockHead4 ай бұрын
@@rewboss True. In his case he was not allowed to work, but, in general governments like immigration because it expands the labor pool. That is especially true here in America where many immigrants don't have a work visa but work anyways. In Europe, I realize it may be a bit different, but only a bit, since the same international corporations that lobby the government in Washington also lobby the EU in Brussels. So the policies and outcomes in both places are going to be similar.
@marge25484 ай бұрын
@@80sRockHead It's only true for America. It does not apply for most EU countries at all. Reason is that there is such a difference in income between various EU States (which are basically independent Nations), that the EU has their own pool of cheap labourers included (who are per definition free to travel) and do hardly need immigration from outside Europe.
@80sRockHead4 ай бұрын
@@marge2548 Good point. I was looking at this from an American perspective where the immigration system has been broken for decades and politicians from neither side want to fix it. I realize alot of the immigrants in Europe are leaving war torn areas. I was at the HBF in Munich a number of years ago and saw it first hand. Immigrants were getting off the train from Italy escaping the fighting in Northern Africa.
@marge25484 ай бұрын
@@80sRockHead They are indeed escaping both wars and poverty. A friend of mine lives in Senegal (in Africa), and there, people recruit promising young men for the traffickers, claiming they are recruiters, as there would be work aplenty in Europe. Families spend all their money to send them over. And they just can‘t or won’t believe that this is all lies. And since their families have put much hope and money in them, they dare not go back once they are here, and do cheap, often illegal work - similar to the illegal immigrants in the US. However, as I wrote earlier, given EU circumstances, this is not even secretly approved by anyone. The gap the US fill by letting immigrants in does not exist in the EU in the same way.
