This is the first city video that I've watched you produce, Patrick. It's very good indeed. I've never been to Sheffield for a few years, but it certainly is great to see some of the buildings that I never knew the history of. It's a totally impressive place to visit, and the cathedral is most beautiful. Thank you for this most enjoyable film.

I thoroughly enjoyed that Patrick. I've looked at Sheffield for years online and wondered about the City. This walk revealed it like a great big view. You certainly got about - the cathedral was peculiar I found. In fact there were many peculiar buildings in the city. The cheese grater and of course them flats - pretty famous online. I was hoping being a swimmer you'd mention Ponds Forge - some fantastic British and international swimming there. Well, thanks for sharing - that was great. All the best. Mark

Thanks Mark. Sheffield is a great city and, time permitting, I tried to film as many as I could of the most iconic landmarks in the city centre. The cathedral is very quirky, but interesting to visit. That cheese grater is something isn't it! Park Hill Flats are not the prettiest sight of course, but they are iconic and are now listed. I did actually pass Ponds Forge on my way to the flats. Glad you enjoyed it Mark, thanks for watching and all the best down there 👍

@@solitaryrambler Yeah, you gave it a good look Patrick - it is large. Yeah Quirky is the word - not your archetypal cathedral. Yeah, another odd one the cheese grater but good to know the flats are listed - many stories there. Well, had you known about swimming you would have given Ponds Forge a mention for sure. Cont. And you could take pictures, while I was in Durham cathedral and Westminster Abbey, a de😅acon ran to me yelling no pictures, I later ask a vicar , why at most cathedral s in Britain they allow you to take pictures, he said it is up to local bishop.

Great to see this city again. I have been in the cathedral and agree that it’s very beautiful and a complete surprise to me but well worth the entry. I also remember te lovely peace gardens. Also I remember the outstanding Botanic gardens. Missed the Quays so need to go back some time soon. Great choice of walk Patrick.

Hi Patrick, I've been away in the Lincolnshire wolds for three weeks at a pain clinic. I'm now catching up on your uploads. It's great to see Sheffield town centre. I've often stopped at Sheffield to change trains yet never explored the city itself. The cheese grater is aptly named. When visiting cathedrals do you ever fancy a spin on the amazing organs they hold? You're right, back in the early eighties everyone used to watch the snooker and darts. In the nineties in Manchester, I saw Alex Higgins on his hands and knees crawling out of the pub in Didsbury. It was mid afternoon and he looked a shadow of his former self. Such a shame. Lovely to see you road crunching and thank you for showing us around. Cheers

Hope you enjoyed the Lincolnshire Wolds Kelly, not an area I've visited at all. Sheffield is a wonderful city with that cheese grater! I've always wanted to play on the organs whenever I visit churches or cathedrals. I remember Alex Higgins, well know for his boozing. Shame to see famous people out like that in public. Glad you enjoyed it Russ. Filming in Sheffield this day was great as I went by bus direct from Matlock for £2 and another £2 return, so much cheaper than driving there and then paying a fortune in the pay and display car parks! It's a great city, highly recommend if you've not been 👍

I've never been here Patrick but I must say it looks a lot better than I expected for an older city. Very nice in fact. But if I could change one thing I'd pull those flats down. I know first hand what it's like to live in one like that. As for the snooker, if you were to ask me snooker players names then I'd have come out with the same ones. A great walk around the city Patrick, thanks for sharing.

Morning Chris, thanks for watching. Sheffield has been regenerated over the years, so it's a great place to visit. Park Hill Flats aren't the prettiest sight I'll agree, but I gather that they were painted those various colours to make them look more attractive, and of course it's a listed building now. Got great memories of the snooker from the late 70s to early 80s. Glad you enjoyed this Chris, thanks again and all the best 👍

Not been to Sheffield for many years but after watching this wouldn't mind another visit. Whilst modest by Cathedral standards, thie one you showed us is still very impressive. I would love to see the winter gardens as I am a huge fan of plants, right up my street. I remember there being a B&B right at one end of Lady's Bridge, is it still there? I stayed there for one night last time I visited! Park Hill Flats looked goppingly awful when I was there; even after the renovation I can't believe they are listed as the only thing I would list them for is demolition! Really interesting video Patrick, definitely have to visit Sheffield again as there is clearly a lot to see and do.
