Amazing views, amazing dams, amazing geology, amazing barn. Nine miles, must have taken you most of the day to complete, including all the going backwards and forwards to set up, pick up the camera etc. Brilliant.
@solitaryrambler2 жыл бұрын
Thanks Paul, much appreciated. To be honest, the filming took me just over 6½ hours, so around the normal time really. Despite it being over 9 miles, I probably walked longer stretches in between shooting as I still ended up with the similar number of shots at the end of the day 👍

English weather is perfect for hiking all year long. I live in TX and 6 months out of the year, it's extremely hot. Even during the winter time the sun ray is very intense. My wife is an English citizen and we had one month long stay in England in back to back years. We walked everywhere and I loved it. One day for certain I'll move to England. Thanks as always for another lovely video.

Hi Patrick. Thought I’d catch up on your latest video from my B&B on the Pennine Way. Another fantastic walk there and one of my favourites. The views are indeed stunning. It’s certainly a tough climb up but very rewarding. Thanks for the kind words too. My feet still remember the 9 edges challenge. It was a tough walk 😆

That was AWESOME Patrick. I was hugely impressed by the fabulous Gothic Revival towers of Derwent Dam, absolutely spectacular. The views from the top were indeed worth your hard work although the names of the rocks are utterly Bonkers (lost lad aside as that makes perfect sense, poor kid) Salt Cellar....Cakes of Bread, what the hell were they smoking lol? Your music on this one Patrick is simply outstanding and up there with your very best; I loved the haunting, melancholy atmosphere it has. Really superb. Great job.

Thank you so much Jeff! No idea where the names of those rocks come from but they are now officially on OS maps. What a beautiful spot to choose for your lunch. It's gorgeous up there. I don't accept Facebook requests from unknowns either. At time s the music had a haunting tone, which really captured the walk, i loved it. Walking in the heat isn't very enjoyable. I prefer a cooler day myself, as it's more enjoyable. I recently watched a man run the pennine way in under three day's. It took him fifty eight hours. It would take me fifty eight years to run it. Great as always. Thank you so much!

It certainly was Kelly, a beautiful walk in all to film. Glad you liked the music, I was quite particular with what I wanted for this film. Many thanks for your lovely comments as always Kelly and for watching 👍

Your film brought back happy memories. However many walks we do, certain days stand out. My last walk over Derwent Edge was one such day. I have a photo (winter 1981) of the Salt Cellar, taken at the end of a long day's walk with thin snow covering the landscape, and my two companions climbing it. As the song goes, 'thanks for the memory.'

You are very much appreciated by us all! Having only been mountain walking for a few months, i appreciate how tough it must be for you, whilst working too! Were retired so we don't have to think about work the day after a climb! I'm so so happy that our eldest daughter introduced us to this! I don't know all the Derwent Valley areas, but have heard of Derwent Reservoir and Shrines. Great views on your route and lovely music chord progressions. What a story about the lost lad. I bet you were shattered after climbing/walking 9 miles and filming.
@solitaryrambler2 жыл бұрын
The views are fab aren't they. Glad you liked my music chord progressions. My score for this came from having been inspired a while back after hearing some music by Karl Jenkins, which I thoguht was wonderful. Quite a sad story about the Lost Lad isn't it. I was pretty tired after filming this 9 mile walk, but surprisingly not as much as I thought actually. I think it might be because I walked for longer stretches on this before taking shots, so it took me the same amount of time to shoot this as I would have done for the shorter walks. Thanks for watching and for your kind comments as always Shanita 👍

The Derwent valley sure is lovely Patrick. Very similar to Elan I think as much of these places are. Ha, a change to get away from the facebooker you don't know. It is odd receiving them requests without information. Now I reckon that's the best lunch spot I've seen you choose in all the time I've been watching your videos and I heard a Curlew at the end of your break. Well, I've enjoyed the walk all the way to the cool shelter - I reckon I'd doss in there. Good company again. All the best as always. Mark

It is indeed very like the Elan Valley Mark, although I would say silently Elan would be my fav out of the two places. Yes it's been strange getting requests from unknown Facebookers, so unless they say who they are they get deleted and blocked. That lunch spot was awesome wasn't it! So glad I managed to capture that. You were right about the Curlew too, unmistakable sound eh. That shelter would make a great bothy wouldn't it. I bet many people have dossed in there over the years. Well always good to hear from you Mark. All the best to you as always 👍

@@solitaryrambler Now that's saying something about the Elan because this area is beautiful Patrick. I agree it's most odd them facebook requests - had another today. Why don't people let you know?
