It is a deceptive hike up from Fairholmes to Rowlee Pastures. Unfortunately, I didn't have time on the way up to stop for long at Alport Castles as it was very windy. I was on the Ethel Hunt up to Alport Moor. The thought of the 13.08 miles is enough to make my legs ache. I promised I'd stop and take in Alport Castles on the way back, but the weather still wasn't great. I definitely need to get back up there on a nice day and take it all in. Thank you for uploading this, Patrick. It is also nice to see how far we have come as a Nation since the Pandemic.

Alport Castles is quite a distance to reach from where you can park, but it's certainly worth walking up to all the same. Hope you get to see it another time, thanks Chris for watching and commenting 👍

Ladybower was my dads favourite place to walk. I have walked it a few times and have seen the roads under the water when it was low. Have also read a book called The Silent Valley. In my brothers village is a house called ashopston which was built from the stone house in the village that was submerged it build the reservoir. Absolute family favourite walk. Thanks Patrick!

Fantastic as always Patrick! Thank you! We were in the peaks again on Monday and we discovered the beautiful Black Brook forest at Gradbach. What an amazing slow climb that was and will be again to the Roaches and beyond! You could barely see the roaches for fog! Btw i love how you tell us about your life as you go along and i will never be able to say Ladybower again, without laughing! 🤣🤣🤣! Were doing a basic 2 night camping trip very soon in Hope, leading toward a bit of wild camping next year, after training with 50 and 75 litre backpacks, for a few months first. So excited about it!

Many thanks again Maggi. Yes that's exactly what my films are all about. The walks I feature aren't really meant to be guides, they are about my own personal journey along them and I often talk about things in life whilst I'm out. Glad you enjoyed the Ladybower tale, my old friend really left a legacy for me there with Ladyblowerrrs! 🤣 Not been to Gradbach or the Roaches for a while, so hope to get back there before too long. Enjoy your visit to Hope, that'll be a great base for walks 👍

What a fantastic walk, Patrick. I love the climb up Hagg Side as those views when you reach there are some of the very best aren’t they? Rowlee Pasture brings back some bittersweet memories for me as I fell down in a bog last year. My own fault as I was too busy messing with the camera 😆. Really enjoyed watching this and it’s got me ready for my walk from Middleton in Teesdale to Dufton today

I enjoyed that, Patrick. When I was last up in the Peak District, a group of us scrambled to the top of Alport Castles on a very hot day. But then beneath those cliffs, we had sheep watching over us from above - it was almost like being in an old western film with American Indians ready to ambush us. ;-) Glad to hear you got your software issues resolved. All the best.

Hi Olly, thanks for taking the time to watch this. I seem to recall your visit to Alport Castles in one of your blogs. Thankfully I wasn't overlooked by any sheep when I was here 😂 It is rather like a western film set though isn't it as it resembles a mini-Mounment Valley in a way. Yes glad to have got those software issues finally sorted, hopefully this issue won't occur again. Have a great week 👍

That software company could have emailed you that link in the first place and saved you all that trouble, bloody idiot's. Soon sorted it, when you asked for your money back. Ladyblowers lol. Enjoyable as always, cheers.

Hi Patrick. Just wondering if my last comments reached you on this walk when you mentioned Bristol, which is my home town. Also asking if you lived there again? or if somehow it got lost ? It looked a bit bleak up on Alport Castles, but stunning views. (ps you'v certainly been busy with your films - is that the catching up after PC problems?)
@solitaryrambler
@solitaryrambler 3 жыл бұрын
Morning Shanita, sorry I've not come across any other comments from you on this video? Anyway I do recall you saying before that Bristol was your home town. I lived there from 1984 to 1996, moved to Weston-s-Mare for 3 years, then moved back to Bristol in 1999 until 2003, which was when I moved to Derbyshire. It certainly is bleak at Alport Castles, but very stunning. Yes I have thankfully caught up with the editing of my films now that the software issue has been fixed. Thanks for watching and commenting Shanita, all the best 👍
