I'm in complete awe of the control and power she has with her voice this comeback! She's gives up something new every release and is never stagnant in her growth with music, which I love because we get to witness her creativity and talent as well! I would say that her participation in musical theatre really brought out the best qualities of her voice and I just love how it's bleeding into her music!

I lol'd when I saw the horse lying there like it was dead cuz I figured that meant "F U and the horse you rode in on!" I think the golden eagle represents her spirit and if she felt like a canary in a cage during their relationship she's been reborn as a fierce bird of prey. The sequence where we see the eagle, then zoom into the eagle's gold eye, which turns into the sun with Solar dancing like a Solar Flare is the equivalent of a phoenix being reborn. Not many singers have the versatility to pull off all the dramatic changes of mood, genre and vocal styles in But I. She co-wrote it with her boss and longtime creative partner Kim Dohoon and it's another in a long line of Only Solar creations. You're going to love the rest of the album. My favorite song on it is Blues. I think it's one of her best.

I feel so much related when you said "Her voice is so intoxication and if she's a mermaid, I'd be die!" as Solar's voice does that kind of magic to me. In this song, she carries the big emotional swings between sorrow and exhilaration, and between r&b ballad and rock with her amazing vocal that connects everything seamlessly. It feels like it could be splitted into two different songs but they blended well with an awesome arrangement and Solar's incredible vocal range and control. I hope you can listen to the whole album as it will shock you even more!

Even if it isn't for a reaction, I highly recommend checking out the rest of the mini-album. There are 6 songs, from 6 different genres. I won't spoil it, but I'm fairly certain your mind will be blown

Solar has said the song is about anything you don't like anymore, that held you down & that you're moving on from, it can be a person, people or things. Further more, this is the nth case of her lyrics being misinterpreted or misconstrued in regards to gender. Solar has made clear that she prefers to write and sing gender neutral songs, she has made that apparent for actual YEARS at this point, so the "him" is actually a mistranslation. The Korean pronoun used can refer to a person of any gender. The concept for this song is "reborn beige", in which beige refers to her skin. Meaning she's entirely reborn. So your idea of what the song is about fits.

I'm not sure where your mermaid comment came from, but I thought I'd point out that Solar did play a mermaid (along with other things) in Mamamoo's appearance on the Korean version of SNL.

Solar is my favorite singer and yeah this is a great song. it sound like a break up video but in an interview she says it means getting rid of anything she doesnt like, so it isnt only a break up song, it is more of a rebirth. There is an acoustic version which is amazing.

Only Solar can say "I really hate you" to your face and it makes you love her more 😅I think you're on the right path about a rebirth and shedding her old self, the lyrics and imagery tend to point to that. On another note, if you liked her voice the whole album is worth a listen, all the songs are represented by a color and have different styles. I think it turned out great and hopefully we'll get at least one more MV out of it.
