The main thing to me here is the way he comes back to the 1 so emphatically each time after having taken a journey! Wow

I have the DVD that video is from it was a 1990 concert, cool DVD. Pat is playing one of the early Roland GR MIDI guitars from the 1980's.

The date is 23rd June 1990. Pat's guitar here is a Roland G303, but it predates MIDI. It was originally designed to play the Roland GR300 synth, but here's it's triggering the Synclavier, which I don't believe is using a MIDI connection either. Here's more about Pat's Synclavier guitar kzbin.info/www/bejne/rKOaaXyJp7l4oqc

1990 gig from their 'Parallel Realities' tour. Guitar is Pat's old Roland G 303 synth controller axe.

I love the reference to Robert Glasper. Could a Robert Glasper solo be featured in a future solo analysis video? As always I love watching. Peace

Great analysis - if you watch Canteloupe through the years you'll find that Herbie almost always treats that Dm7 section as a way to build tension and its always chromatic lol.

Love the analysis, and I understand all your comments, the guy is rhythmic, and textural. However I just wonder, would you or anyone dare to give a harsh critique of any aspect of what Herbie has done? Do even the top notch players make, less than desired decisions in the groove of soloing? I've heard Herbie admit, things don't always go as hew wanted or intended, and therefore I just sometimes wonder, if other high level players would dare to comment negatively too ;D :p ?

4 years later Herbie used the same 16th groove on a trio recording: kzbin.info/www/bejne/b2nIhaJ-Zrt5Z9E I like the clarity of it. Thanks for those conversations! I just discovered your podcast/youtube clips.
