Solo Anchoring

Sometimes you just like to go out solo and don't have any extra hands to help you out. This is just one way that works for me when anchoring.

Like the video but would add the anchor rope length is relevant to depth to get a good set angle. Such as a 3:1 or 7:1 ratio. Are you anchoring for a few hours or overnight?

I was anchoring in that situation just for a short while, not really to stay put any real length of time. I'll probably do another video with more detail this season.

How about retrieving the Anchor?

It's the exact reverse of deploying it. Loosen the bow, pull in the stern, then pull the rest of the bow in.

@@sweetvelocitybps Sorry it sounded like a dumb question. I was thinking retrieving it would be more difficult given a stronger current.

@@jasonspring6970 Not at all a dumb question. If there's a cross current, no big deal - unless there's other boats around in which case it's a pain in the butt. In those cases, if I'm at a sandbar that's shallow, I recruit help. I otherwise hold tension to keep me in place and move my ass at warp speed once I'm down to one anchor to haul it up fast and get moving, sometimes using boat power to get me to the forward anchor faster. It's not always easy being solo.
