Awesome video. I thought there was a big tarn at the end of this trail 🤔

What time of year did you do this hike?

My son and I camped just under the East Portal several years ago in mid-August (2015 or 6). It was also gorgeous - albeit without the softening effects of the snow cover on the Portal Ridge (pretty bare in early Sept. that year). The huckleberry bushes lining the trail most of the way from Camp Kaiser to the Portals were very refreshing. There were camp clearings on the way up the East Portal, but we chose to stay down on the tundra just below (several cleared spots there too amongst the rocks and still receding snowfield that feeds Sholes Creek). Clearly a lot of time, planning, and effort in your videos. Thanks.

Loving this one! High Alpine is my favorite. This is for suggesting this!

This area looks and reminds me of Paradise at Rainier but seems much better. Don't know if you know this but the rocks you hiked and camped on are the remnants of an ancient Caldera similar to Crater lake in Oregon. Check out David tucker's Geology Underfoot in Western Washington to learn more about this. This area also looks like it also provides access to the glaciers in this area which could provide climbing routes to the NW faces of Baker. What was the morning light like from this perspective? Great video, it made me want to go there.

When it's clear out the morning light is actually pretty good and colorful. There are some shots of baker from the same direction in my Tomyhoi/Yellow video. Shuksan stays pretty shaded but baker lights up pretty pink.

It's hard to be "better" than Paradise or Sunrise (and the scenery along the great trails above those two places). And recently, Ptarmigan has become nearly as crowded as some of the more popular trails in MRNP. The double-whammy of Baker and Shuksan is pretty sweet - and separates it from Rainier. But better? Probably not; they're both truly awesome places.

@@davidcarter2720 Yes, I have hiked the trails around Paradise and Sunrise probably hundreds of times in my short life. I've become desensitized to them. Not to downplay the uniqueness of Mt. Rainier National Park, but it is where I grew up and have been seeking other places to adventure. So I guess I cannot say Ptarmigan Ridge is better because I have never been there. Who am I to judge.

Cool video. Haven’t explored that area much but am inspired to check it out. Nice blue mountains! 😂🍻

Stumbled across your video of the ridge. Was planning on heading up there next week but wildfires have kicked back in and all of Washington is smoked out. Hoping the winds change and clear off as this is the 2nd year I have had to cancel that trip. Love the time lapse of the stats and clouds! What were your camera setting for that?

open high country and rocks not my cup of tea but these sweeping views are too much. Blue sky and snowpacks make it an eyecandy,

I am dumbfounded by the number of subscribers youve got. I know that all these numbers mean nothing but,,, To be honest it doesn't correspond with the quality and the amount of work you do. It is far cry from some amateurish hiking videos. But I personally love it this way =D it is like a hidden gem! Sharing nature videos cannot be about a click by definition =SS I wish you to grow and at the same time I like it how it is =D

Very much enjoyed the simplicity is this video. So many with too much stupid music and no real content. Too bad about the song noise but other than that.... And that sunset! Wow.
