I like: the music you chose, the way you cuss when you're tired, the awesome views you show us, the food!!!, is that water you drink cold? And what is the longest you've ever hiked in one day?:)

I try to keep my videos as real and authentic as possible while also making them entertaining. As for water temperature, yes, most of the time the water in the backcountry is nice and cold. The most miles I’ve ever hiked in a day was 29 miles in Washington on my 2018 PCT thru-hike. It was a long and rough day!

I love the view from the privy, and that blowdown music was spot on. But I think my favorite part was that very chill bear, lounging on a Boulder. Yep. Just like that. LOVE THIS SERIES!

I must say I'm really enjoying your hikes and videos, watched the J and now K sections. I really appreciate the way you keep you talking to a minimum, your pictures to a maximum and your music fits in nicely. Great production and even greater accomplishment with the solo hiking, backpacking

Nothing like literally getting bush "wacked" along the trail. Epic views after lunch. I love seeing the vastness and cool formations gazing aboard like that. Then to top it all off, you get a personal nature jungle gym with all the downed trees. Oh!! How cute was that marmot. Awesomeness again!! Thanks!! Now I can't wait till Sunday.
@TheHungryHiker3 жыл бұрын
I think that marmot was flirting with me. He sat there of so long, posing and letting me take his picture. The merlots in this section of the PCT have been especially friendly. Those views after lunch were some of my favorite. The blowdowns? Not so much, but I had to laugh because it was literally one right after another and they kept getting bigger and crazier.

@@TheHungryHiker first time I saw the redwoods I couldn't believe how big those trees could reach such heights like that. That marmot sure did and earned his 15 second of fame then.

I hope so! There were sooo many blowdowns. There was no way I could capture them all on camera. My guess is trail crews haven’t been able to get back here in the last two years because of COVID. Shows you how quickly Mother Nature can take back a trail when it doesn’t get trail crew love.

Music for the blowdown part was spot on. I met one hiker who had to hug the tree he was crawling over and he had to squeeze it so hard to keep from slipping that he broke a rib!

Thank you!! I hugged my fair share of these trees out here in this section. Luckily the only thing that hurt was my ego when I took my sweet time trying to maneuver over them in one piece. 😂

Just found your sight while looking for camping/backpacking food. I’ll be motorcycle camping so I don’t have to be as weight conscious. But there are similarities in the amount of things that you can carry. Anyway I just wanted to say how much I have enjoyed watching your videos. Such beautiful areas and views. I’m curious if there is some trail code when it comes to privies like that, that are open (no walls/door). Is there a way that hikers signal to each other that the privy is occupied? Or are people walking up on each other somewhat regularly? I would assume just shouting up, but if you’ve never visited that privy before, how do you know if you are in shouting distance before it’s visible? 🤔 I just recently found your channel and have really been enjoying your videos! Recently moved out the the PNW and am slowly getting to enjoy all of the beautiful natural spaces we have access to.
@TheHungryHiker7 ай бұрын
Usually since I'm by myself, I'll leave my trekking poles in the middle of the trail up to the privy to signal that I'm up there. Most of the time this works. Sometimes it doesn't and then when someone goes up there, they ask me why I left trekking poles in the middle of the trail. Palm to the face! If you have someone with you, you can take turns looking out for one another.

Kencko has a lot of flavors... which are your favs?
@TheHungryHiker3 жыл бұрын
In my most recent box, I got flavors like: beet reds, mint greens, yellows, purples, oranges, reds, corals and golds. So far, I've liked all of the flavors I've tried. I really haven't come across one flavor I haven't liked yet. They're not overly sweet either. Super yummy and easy to drink first thing in the morning.

I'd be doing my viewers a disservice if I didn't share the WHOLE story. Hiking and backpacking isn't always gorgeous mountain views and pretty meadows. Sometimes you have to embrace the suck, whether that's hiking in the rain, being scared or having to navigate around crazy blowdowns. There's still nothing else I'd rather do than be out there.

When we did that section it rained for 3 straight days in the middle of the trip. Never saw Glacier Peak and with the rain coming down and the soaked brush hanging over the trail, we dubbed it the "hiker car wash"!
@TheHungryHiker3 жыл бұрын
Sounds like the same experience I had when I thru-hiked this section in 2018. The rain started for us the day after coming out of Stevens Pass and didn't stop until we got to Stehekin. This was my first time getting to see Glacier Peak from all different angles and it was glorious!
