Solo Bandos GWD with the Bow of Faerdhinen (easy, no tickloss 6:0)

As far as I'm aware, this is the best Bandos GWD solo method.
Note: if you are a main and don't use an instance, there's a 1/8 chance that Graardor spawns on a different tile. This causes the method to be messed up (tanking Graardor hits) until you fix it, so the 9:0 method would be recommended instead.
Here are the pros and cons compared to the 37t 9:0 method ( • The new Bandos Meta. 9... )
Pros:
- The method loses 0 ticks per cycle instead of 1. This effectively means a DPS increase of around 2.7%.
- You don't need an item on the floor to red-X on.
- Argueably an easier method, with a limited amount of tilemarkers.
Cons:
- The melee minion hits you more often. But for me, at least, food/hp isn't an issue anyway.
- The method relies on flinching, so it requires an extra method to fix mistakes.

Extra info:
- Graardor is unable to attack you while you're in his melee range because he's being flinched from the shot you do at the red tilemarkers. If you make a mistake, Graardor may not get flinched from the red tilemarker shots. But this can be fixed, see: 2:03.
- For the "fresh instance method", I do lose 2 ticks. But, as far as I'm aware, it's still the best way to start a fresh instance without tanking any Graardor hits.
- With level 112/99 ranged and the gear I used, the kills take on average 40-41 seconds (or ~39 seconds if using a rune/amethyst dart Blowpipe spec mid-kill).

Though, there is one thing I'd like to add: If you're struggling with the continued kills, you can move your tiles one tile to the west, giving you a similar window to attack Graardor, as you have with K'ril in the zammy guide. A loss of 1 tick to make the method slightly more reliable.

@@hakanmagnusson4058move all your tiles one tile to the south, meaning one tile away from the altar. Since Graardor moves one tile per tick, it means it will reach you one tile / one tick later. In the Kril video, you wait one tick after spawn before attacking. In this one, you gotta attack the exact tick it spawns. Since you have problem with that, moving everything south, aka away from Graardor spawn points, means you can now wait 1 tick before attacking after he spawns, just like Kril. Hope it helps! I started with Kril and also had problem clicking Graador on the exact same tick it spawns lol. I think the comment above said west because they didnt notice that in the video, the compass is turned.

he makes it look easy because it's far from intense, you don't need to understand ticks to learn this but it helps a lot. you need to record yourself doing it, and watch it so you can figure out where you're going wrong in the cycle. try to watch the video and figure out what action is being performed on every single tick. for example moving/shooting/stationary (waiting for bow cooldown from the looks of the video)

Using them has been an immeasurable help to both my and my group's progress, and I was able to greenlog Bandos at 1030 kc with a hilt using this method. Happy scaping! edit: For anyone wondering, all done with eagle eye, thralls, and 80-84 defense for 20-30 kill trips (run out of divine range pots). You profit food unless you have terrible food RNG or take a long time to offtick the minions. Typically have so much food that juggling all of it makes you miss a spawn xD. 22-23 kph rate (including kc to enter)

I found ctrl clicking to walk to the red tiles much easier than manual walking, it also helped me time the red click better since I kept clicking early because I suck at counting ticks when my character isn't moving lol

If you click normally your character will run once and walk once, then you click attack and have to wait a tick before moving out for the attack to go off, I kept messing up that bit. When I started ctrl clicking my character walks 3 tiles and my attack goes off instantly, which for me helped with the timing, you save energy doing that too

Learning this now, with a full inv of food. just got my bofa and a bandos hilt! Great guide man. As a newbie to tick manipulation it took me a while to figure out how you were eating without messing up the 4 tick cycle with a 3 tick action. I assume its because you're pausing for one tick on the tile where you would have attacked, then manually walking to the red tile (extra tick) to make sure you're exactly 8 ticks from the last shot? I kept shooting 1 tick ahead. Any reason you don't eat 1 tick later? or skip the attack position delay altogether and eat 2 ticks ahead? or is that a just-in-case you eat late, it doesn't stop you from flinching him?

It doesn't matter when you click to eat, since the attack cooldown will always expire 3 ticks after it would normally expire without food. What does matter though is when you click Graardor. Time this click to keep the 4-tick rhythm. For me, that manual walking helped make it easier yeah.

This looks awesome, I’m using the 6:0 method where you run around the edge of the room without red x clicks but this looks more efficient so I might give this a try. Is there a reason you don’t put markers in the middle where you shoot so you know which squares to shoot on? I feel like that might be my issue if I tried this since I wouldn’t know when to shoot using true tile indicator. Thanks for the video!

With that 6:0 method, you do 6 attacks in 34 ticks. With my method, 6 attacks are done in only 24 ticks, which is far more efficient yeah. I think it's easier without tile markers in the middle and just have a timing of 2.4 seconds per attack. Since the method is on a line, tile markers would make it confusing because you wouldn't know whether a tile marker is for on the way to the altar or on the way to the door. If you think it's easier with those tilemarkers, feel free to place em though.

@@PerzyYT Because the kill is a lot faster, you'd also be taking a lot less damage from the other minions. I'm not sure if you'd be taking more or less damage in total though, but I'd recommend trying either my 6:0 method or one of these methods: kzbin.info/www/bejne/eZaYoohuaraDi8U Those methods makes you tank a lot fewer melee minion hits.

This is so simple it's actually insane. does this usually profit food with max stats + rigour? being able to bring thralls is dope, do you think the extra dps is worth shortening the trip a bit from prayer usage?

You do profit food yeah, with max stats + rigour. The usage of thralls is up to personal preference. I don't think they shorten the trip length by a lot. Crystal armour and Ring of the Gods give a really high amount of prayer bonus, and the ring also gives you 2 extra prayer points per super restore dose. Every 10 minutes you can pray at the altar. And, on top of all that, there's a 8/128 chance to get the 3x super restore(4) drop. That's a lot of prayer :P

How do you figure these methods out? Do you use something to see monster true tile to analyze the method, or use logic to reason about where the boss would be on every tick, or maybe you have some tool to simulate what would happen w.r.t the boss pathing and flinching for given inputs?

I know all the game mechanics of flinching, red-X and pathing. Using a grid layout of the room (as seen at the end of the video), I manually simulate the player with the "fill" tool in Microsoft Paint with one hand while I move a cut-out piece of paper over my monitor to simulate the boss with the other hand. This allows me to easily theorise methods tick-by-tick.

If you're having trouble with hp, maybe you could use blood barrage instead of thralls. Without blood barrage, you need a decent defence/magic level and/or flick the minions well after killing Graardor.

You know how you can corner safespot NPCs and flinch them with melee? Well, it turns out the flinching mechanic is a lot more complex than that. For example, NPC's can flinch off ranged hits as well, which is done in this video. There are also some requirements for a NPC to be flinchable though. If you do the method like I did in the video, those requirements will be satisfied. But when you make a mistake, you need to fix the cycle by doing what I did at 2:03. If you want more in-depth knowledge about the mechanics, I suggest you to read this wiki page which I updated with the general flinching mechanics back when I figured them: oldschool.runescape.wiki/w/Flinching

For messing up the cycle and having to take 1 hit, could this be a time where you could use a melee spec weapon and continue the rotation, would it have to be the same tick speed at f bow? Or if there is any point to work in a DWH spec, for example, if using regular crystal bow and armor?

Even if you do manage to get a dragon warhammer special attack in, using dwh + avernic + super combat potion, this would only reduce the average killtime by 0.3 seconds. A blowpipe spec is far more useful instead, reducing the average killtime by 1.5 seconds. If you don't have a Bow of Faerdhinen, I'd recommend you to use a different method. @@latortuga3583 O damn, you're right. The crystal armour set was buffed a lot more than I remembered. Crystal bow with crystal armour is indeed better than crossbows. It seems like a minimal switches DWH spec has a similar decrease of average killtime as a Blowpipe spec: 1.5 seconds.

Flinching is mostly known for melee, but the underlying mechanic is actually a bit more complex and can apply to stuff like ranged too. @@GeChallengeM wow, thank you for that info. after reading that wiki page i think i fully understand this now. so you flinch him with the first shot fired, giving him a 3tick retaliation delay because you're out of his range, AND you then red click the altar which locks graardor in place while running through him. that allows you to get out of his attack range by the time his 3tick retaliate delay is over. by the time you reach the altar, his 8 tick in-combat timer has ended, so your shot from that tile will initiate another 3tick retaliation delay, and you can repeat the same process running back toward the door now. is that the right idea? tyvm for your help!

I haven't really done trips myself other than for making the video, but I used this setup: i.imgur.com/zbjjRCD.png Drop the hilt after teleporting, or replace with trollheim tab if you don't have it. Stam pot is just in case I do run out of energy. Six divine ranging potions means it's for a 2 hours trip. Of course, a lot is up to personal preference.

For the first kill of a trip it seems Bandos spawns too close to avoid a melee hit a lot of the times, when doing the method you've shown. Any idea what could cause this? Have you experienced this as well? Any idea what causes this? So far I've had him spawn too close 8/9 trips I've done, and the near guaranteed melee on the first kill can really scuff up a trip haha

If your client is slow at loading the instance, you may get stalled for an additional tick. If trying to take this into account, there's no easy way to set up the first kill without tanking a hit. It'd be more complicated and include punching graardor to flinch him...

Sounds like you started running 1 tick late. If you run in time, Graardor should still be in its 6-tick attack cooldown from his previous attack.

Hmm, that shouldn't happen... Usually, you should be able to kill Graardor before having to eat, assuming you start the kill with 99 hp. In rare cases you do need to eat during the kill, but this shouldn't be a problem either because you should profit on food drops. If you're bad at flicking the minions after killing Graardor and lose food due to that, you might want to bring Blood Barrage and use that on the minions to heal up.

Right as you see Graardor initialising his attack, you click. I wouldn't recommend waiting for more than 1 attack cycles. I don't know what you mean by "don't attack on the reset click". The door/altar is clicked on the same tick your character initialises the attack. That's a tick after you click the "Attack" option.

What I should be doing if I need to eat more than 1 food on a reset is... - Wait on the reset tile, eating as Graardor walks to me, but leave a 3 tick window before he actually attacks, as he attacks - I also attack and red-x. The attack should land the 2nd tick of his attack cycle, allowing me to attack or eat again the 6th tick - 1 tick before the 1st tick of his next attack cycle. I'm struggling to learn this and 7:0. I've gone back and forth with both methods, but cant maintain more than a 3 kc trip with either. I know this is a skill issue, but if I figured out CG to get my bowfa... I should be able to figure this out.

Yes! It's a requirement. If you have a pending interaction (usually due to a click that causes a red-X to appear under your cursor), then the last NPC you've interacted with won't do its usual random movement while under it. So basically, it prevents Graardor from moving while running through him.

Hmm... I don't have a main to test a non-instance, but I'm pretty sure it should work in 7/8 of the cases. You have to shoot it instantly on spawn, and then instantly start running. If you wait a bit, you'll get hit. That's what happened to me at 2:04. Note that the sound of your shot is a bit delayed, so you have to click to start moving before you hear it.

If you time something incorrectly, Graardor would stop flinching at the right moment. This causes him to be able to attack you each time after running through him. To fix such mistake, do the thing I do at 2:05.

Hey, sometimes the minions spawn few ticks later after bandos. The melee minion goes 1 tile ahead of graardor, messing up the flinch whereas you'll be under graardor when you've needed to hit on the way back from the altar. Any idea?

Minion spawn times shouldn't matter at all. Minions can be ignored during the kill, all what matters is that Graardor has to be set up correctly. Minions can't affect Graardor's flinch.

@@hotnoodle6870 Ah, there's the problem. The door and altar clicks are very important yes. It causes Graardor to not do its random movement while running through him.

To start the cycle, you have to attack instantly when he spawns and then instantly start running. If you've made a mistake, he's able to attack you. This keeps happening every time you run past him until you fix it. Mistakes can be fixed by doing what I did at 2:05.

Sounds like you're already doing everything you can to save run energy. So you'd need to do at least one of the following: - Keep using stam pots or purple sweets - Get higher ranged/agility lvls - Get better gear

Great video, only issue i have is minions, they honestly are the real boss here, considering you don’t use ancients how do you manage to not get dropped after bandos is down do you solely rely on food to extend trips as you would go in with brews i assume?, Obviously pray flicking the minions helps but i still find Im getting smashed by the minions without ancients seems almost undo-able?

Pray flicking, bones to peaches, and food drops. For me, that was more than enough :) Of course, having 99 ranged for fastest kills and 99 defence for least damage taken helps. I personally used regular divine ranging potions because ironman, but using bastions instead will provide additional help.

It's also better because you're attacking every 4 ticks, unlike the other methods which make you lose 2 ticks per cycle. To compare: the 6:0 method is 7.1% better DPS than 7:0, and 5.6% better DPS than 9:0. Quite a significant improvement IMO.

Zaryte crossbow is a 5-tick (3.0 seconds) weapon, while the Bow of Faerdhinen is a 4-tick (2.4 seconds) weapon. You can't simply replace a bofa shot by a zcb shot since the attackspeeds don't match. But you can do a small adjustment to the cycle to allow for a zcb spec. If you're curious how, I'll draw it and show on a picture.

The method is made to do everything as quick as possible. Maybe your tilemarkers are off? Or maybe you need to run 1 tick earlier than you've been trying now?

If your timing is off (attacking too early or too late), then indeed, you'll get hit. And you'll get hit after every time you run through Graardor, unless you fix the cycle (as seen at 2:03).

This method does not work with 5 tick weapons such as rcb. The problem is that the cooldown is just too long, making you unable to do the shot after running through graardor without him hitting you. For rcb methods, I recommend you to check out these 2 methods: 1) diagonal kiting by bcguppy: best public method, but effort 2) 26t 5:0 by Lronic memes: easy method, losing 1 tick per cycle I also made a new method recently that is easy to do and doesn't make you lose ticks. It's not public yet, but planning to make a video for it.

You take far less hits from the melee minion doing 9:0 and you even have the opportunity to prayer flick one of the melee's attacks while running from the door to the east side of the room. I understand you lose two ticks with 9:0, but I would imagine it's far more consistent and reliable not having to tank the melee minion every kill.

You only lose 1 tick with 9:0, but yes, I've explained the pros and cons in the video description. A 2.7% DPS increase is good if you're profiting hp anyway. For people with a low defence level, 9:0 is still recommended though.

@@awk4080 I did try to find a no-tickloss method that doesn't make you tank the melee minion often, but was unable to. If only the room was 1 tile longer, then I would've had a 12:0 no-tickloss method, only tanking the melee minion once per 12 hits. But it seems like most people are more interested in easy methods instead of good methods. For example, I found a 6:0 crossbow method for Bandos on a 33 tick cycle. I never published it because better methods already existed (no-tickloss diagonal kiting with prayer flicking, and my non-published 26t 5:0 similar to 27t zammy). And 1.5 years later, someone made a video of a scuffed version of the method (6:0 36t instead of my 33t) which turned out to be very popular.

It helps a lot to have max gear, lvl 112/99 ranged and lvl 96+ agility. You can also use the method shown at 1:51 to save even more run energy, if needed. Also, after the kill, you can walk instead of run when picking up the bones.

I forgot the DPS calc results, but it's most likely bp. Bofa mostly excels at higher defence opponents, while bp is best against low defence opponents. Both options should be fairly close though, and definitely if not using dragon darts.
