It's made by a local luthier (Lindsay Barron) and just went straight through a Cube amp with some delay...nothing fancy.

Nothing fancy required; it is a beautiful sounding recording, although I would say the custom bass arguably does add an element of something fancy to the tone recipe. It is cool that you make it sound great with such a simple setup! As a reminder to myself and all guitar and bass players, another part of the tone recipe that rarely gets mentioned (I'm as guilty of overlooking it as anyone) but is probably just as important to how it sounds here, is the microphone and its placement.

Is it made from the same company of Steve swallow bass ?
@DrNickReynoldsАй бұрын
@@tabonejohann It was made by a local luthier in West Sussex...I've just uploaded a video on it. 🙂
@GregorypeckoryАй бұрын
@@tabonejohann No, that is a Parker Fly bass. Only the shape is similar.

@georgesmith - a bit of Steve Swallow / Jaco / Tal Farlow...but mainly years of just figuring my own approach and finally getting round to recording it. 🙂

Hate to be that guy, but not all bassist have to play roots and be buried in the mix. Any instrument can have a solo
