On days with little wind, I sometimes cut fishing line out of tree branches (I always carry scissors and a knife). When the osprey nests are vacated, and if I ever see any fishing line in them, I can sometimes reach it by standing on my boat (or a flying scot) that I've paddled up to, and remove fishing line that is wove into the nest. It adds a new purpose to what might be a less than perfect sailing day.

Sounds purposeful indeed. Thx for your comment.

Good for you! It's a shame people are soooo nasty.

I hope that's not what you got from my vid. I don't think anyone littered these sheets. I think they blew in from a nearby dumpster. People need to be aware that this can happen. But once they know I believe most people care enough to try harder to prevent this. Plus SF Bay has gotten a lot cleaner in recent decades. I now see seals every time I sail, and sometimes porpoises and even whales. I have to believe that people helped make that happen, and even if they were people in the environmental movement that feels good.

@@fossilfool I got a lot from it, but you did call it "trash pickin" (and people are nasty - you gave sites of those helping with the problem). You have a cool boat and you obviously enjoy it. Love the biking aspect and the hull material you used. Ross Lillistone's boats were on my short list of possible builds, particularly his Phoenix III and First Mate. I decided on Clint Chase's Calendar Islands Yawl 16 (www.chase-small-craft.com/calendar-islands-yawl-16)which I have just begun. Logging it on WBF (forum.woodenboat.com/showthread.php?276173-Calendar-Islands-Yawl-16-in-Chattanooga&highlight=chattanooga) and my blog: captnkid.blogspot.com/. I just sold my previous build to a girl who just moved here (Chattanooga, TN) from San Francisco who loves sailing. Fair winds to us all! Dale

@@dalek5438 Good luck with the build of your 16' Yawl. Any interest in bike towing? Nice lightweight hull for it!
