Don't eat at a chip shop you can smell from a mile away....life lessons. Great Vlog. I was worried at the start that we may not see any mud - but you didn't let us down. 😄

Solo bikepacking overnighters are so much fun when it isn't December, January or February and sometimes even March. Here in the UK, I live in the driest part of the country, the east in Lincolnshire. It has been incredibly wet Autumn and Winter, but never that cold. The fields, the woods and the rivers looks not too dissimilar to what you shared of your adventure in the Netherlands.

Thanks mate! Interesting that you live in the driest part of the UK. Where I live, close to Eindhoven, it's been so wet that a lot of my local gravel roads have turned into mud fighting pits. I'll have a look at your videos to do a comparison, fun to hear that it looks somewhat similar. Have a great day!

Nice, I camped last week at exactly the same spot at Baarlo. I did some of the Limburg Divide also and went to Heerlen. With the train back to base in Baarlo. As an inexpierenced gravelrider I found part of the route too much MTB’ish after all the rain that fell.

Sounds like you had a fun, but muddy time. It's hard to ride through indeed but unfortunately there's not much we can do about it. Did you film or photograph any of it? I'd love to see what it looked like.

Looks like a beautiful trip, even under these circumstances. I should put it on my bucketlist as well, I think. And: respect for the solo-survivor! 👍🪓
@MaartenOverweg8 ай бұрын
The full Limburg Divide is still on my to do list as well, I think it would als be a fun one to try and do in 1 day. The solo stuff is actually quite fun and makes it much easier to just go out for a weekend. I'm really gonna do that more often.
@wimvanunen93378 ай бұрын
Yes, that’s my experience too: gravel is so much fun both in a group (i.e. with our club at wintersundays / summersaturdays) as well as solo (i.e. for me: building routes). Freedom in every aspect. Boswielrennen 🙂

Brilliant mate! Really enjoyed that vlog. Definitely do more of these rides. Great insight of what it's like to go bike packing, rather than just showing the highlights. Keeping it real my guy!

Thanks Pickles! I will definitely do more of these rides, but will try to eat a bit better and fart less next time.

Ooh, I wish there wasn't as much snow outside so I could take my bikes out. Great video and great bike packing set up and btw Snickers are the best ride snacks 🙂

Thanks Snorre! Indeed, so much fun to be out on the bike again. I do love Zwift, but nothing beats being out in nature. And yes, Snickers are the best 🥳

Looks like a great trip! You can DIY replace the batteries in the Garmin - I did it with my 520 a few years ago - but the 1040 does look good!

@@niallsimpson tell me more! How did you do that?

Cool video! I am planning something similar for my first solo bikepacking trip. I was wondering whether, and if so, what kind of lock you bring for when you leave the bike during breaks and stops to eat or grocery shop?
@MaartenOverweg4 ай бұрын
Thanks mate! Yeah, do it! Bikepacking is just the best. What's your plan exactly, you already have a route you wanna do? I have a very simple small and light lock that I bring, it's only to have a little bit of extra safety. It's the BBB Cycling Minicase BBL-53.

@@MaartenOverweg Thanks! Good to know that a small simple lock has sufficed in your experience. I also want to do the Limburg Divide (taking the train for Antwerp, Belgium).

Hi Mario, it is a very nice trip. Yes, I have a public profile on Komoot, but I think it’s best if you download the route from the person that originally created it because I only did half of it.
It wasn't pretty, I can tell you that. What a shit show!

I've got to many hobbies! Since I have lost quite a bit of weight (20 kg and counting) I haved had to buy some new cycling kit (jersey/bibs) and I also bought some new shoes and a helmet, new Exposure lights and another helmet light. Alos bought new camera and lenses, a couple of pair of skis and then I'm taking my girlfriend to Bologna for a weekend.Finally I seem to need a new PC as the one I'm using is no longer reliable for Zwifting (having lots of dropouts last couple of days and alos trouble with recording videos!)
