This video shows something that is unknown to many people from outside the US , that America and New York is not only a giant city, but it's also nature! Lovely forests, quite similar to some forests in my country. I've taken up bikepacking two years ago and now every time I see such nice videos I start thinking of cycling somewhere. Cheers from Poland :)

Thanks for the comment! I still find it strange that I can ride for 50 miles out of Manhattan and be sat next to some of the most beautiful lakes and waterfalls :) So very glad it's there! New video coming soon... it's fall here and last weekend was absolutely stunning - got some great shots.

Hi John, this is great. I'm taking my first bikepacking trip this weekend and going to test all my gear in the same neck of the woods!! Appreciate seeing your video.

YES! Very very nice, again! Story, surroundings, riding, places, food, beer! Awesome. And a time laps of your chair leg sinking into the ground as a bonus! :D Thanks for making and sharing!

ElHorste haha hasn’t noticed that 🙂. Ground was nice and soft after a big rain storm just before I left. Makes pegging tents out a lot easier - but the chair can be a little tricky! 😉

John Br0 they even sell net-like bases you put over the end caps of the feet to connect them for sand etc... I just bought a cheap knock off of the helinox and they sold the addition too. Nice video, keep it up!

Beautiful places. Show a little more your bike while you are riding, that's is what we like beside the places

Here ya go. goo.gl/maps/YUh1iG2iZqJQu5MZ9 Camp spot in Harriman is a secret - but night 2 has exact location :)

Why didn't you take State Route 9W?

Hey John! I'm in NYC - gonna make a similar trip starting in 2 days. did you get camping permits for all your spots or just backcountry camp?
@JohnBr04 жыл бұрын
Hey man! I'll be out there somewhere this weekend also :) No permits. The first night I camped in Harriman at a little secret spot. The second night I stayed at Shawangunk Ridge State Forest. You are legally allowed to camp there. goo.gl/maps/f6PgmRCpyH5vC7959 Route here ^^. Have fun!

@@JohnBr0 Yeah great. This is awesome. You've inspired me. I was thinking about riding to Montauk, but it looks really difficult to find camping.

Hey! Was it all off-grid camping?
@JohnBr05 жыл бұрын
I stealthed in Harriman. The site at Shawangunk State Forest allows primitive camping if you are 150ft from the trail. I was all pretty off grid - didn't see anyone around either night.
