Retired and moved to Mountain View 10 years ago. So peaceful and quiet here. And the people here are so friendly. We have been to Blanchard Springs several times. The Blanchard Cave is awesome too. I love to sit out at night and listen to the bats that come out of that cave. Haven't seen a mosquito since I've been here because of the bat population.

Very familiar with this area. I stay at that campground with the wood bridge often. Barkshed is also a nice place to camp. That was a moccasin for those unfamiliar , venomous snakes will have most or all their body on top of water when swimming, unless spooked. Yes, copperheads will get in these creeks, as well as about four types of rattlesnake. Its more common to see watersnakes that look like moccasins, but they swim dragging their butts under water. Also harmless black snakes and rat snakes also commonly seen in these areas.

The part you spoke of, making reservations 2 days ahead to get inside Blanchard Springs Caves tour, is completely correct! We went just a few days ago [off season] and didn't make reservations, thankfully the 3 o'clock tour had 2 open spots [actually 1 but the Park ranger made one more seat] I couldn't understand why the number of ppl had to be so specific 😂 then we got on the huge elevator down, that only can hold so much weight & the bus ride back to the lodge is packed like sardines 😂 It was a amazing experience!

@@jrcriner6542 😂😂😂. Was on a canoe trip years ago in the BWCA here in Mn and came across a nice big lure floating on the water. Started bringing it in on an endless amount of line. I decided to cut it and as soon as I did my brain engaged and I realized there was a pole on the end of it at the lake bottom. ( people canoeing tend to put their poles in the rear and troll while paddling ). I still regret that move . With my luck it would have been a worthless Chinese pole or a nice St Croix rod (my favorite)
