Solo Camping Small Car. Relaxing Titanium Wood Stove. ASMR Cold Weather Suzuki Jimny

An overnight camp, sleeping in the Jimny at Abbeyfields in Mitford, Northumberland.
The owner of the fields is a nice guy and he gave me a tour of their Glamping Horsebox. I'm not being paid for sharing their web link and footage of their luxury Glamping Horsebox. I wanted to show my wife so thought I would add it in at the start of the video for you guys too. I'll book a stay for my wife and I in the future, it was super nice!

Abbeyfields is very close to Morpeth, in Northumberland. Morpeth is an awesome place to visit, my wife and I like Barluga for a meal and a few drinks if you're heading this way yourself. This excerpt is from the Visit Northumberland website:

Pretty much agree with that :)
No roof tent this camp, I wanted to mix things up a bit. The basic set up was the DARCHE Eclipse Awning Wall Set (www.trekoverla...) for shelter and sleeping inside the Jimny. The weather stayed dry and it got down to freezing temperatures but nothing too crazy.
The only major fail was my boots, they both leaked badly within minutes off getting to camp in the thick soaking wet grass. Needless to say my feet were like blocks of ice until I got home ha ha.
This was the first camp for me using a wood stove. Titanium woods stoves are hella expensive but I must admit I liked using it. I've never been happy with the idea of lighting a fire in a field without a good fire pit to avoid scorching the earth. In the woodland I usually camp at this isn't an issue as there are fire rings already there and landowners permission to use them. The wood stove in many ways is a lot more convenient than a fire pit, in my opinion. It's lightweight and packs down small which is essential for the space limited Jimny.
I made that awning pole bracket myself as a temporary measure to help secure the pipe. That amateur device isn’t part of the product you buy. I’m still considering whether to sew in a stove jack onto the awning walls.
I missed stinking of campfires but that's a small price to pay. For transparency I was sent the stove by a company on kickstarter www.kickstarte...
I was also using a storage box sent from Naturehike. www.naturehike...
A few people commented that is looks like a printer lol, but hey I like it! Maybe I should have got the other colour? Anyhow I added a wooden chopping board to the top and some temporary legs until I can add some funky wooden ones. Why I like it is the fact it collapses flat once you're finished using it and you have access to items inside without taking the table top off. They stack too.

I try to explain that I’m just trying to enjoy myself lighting fires with things like flint and steel but it falls on deaf ears. The salmon and veg combo had me salivating. I thought the stove was a bit of a faff until I saw how it looked with a roaring fire in it and I did a 180! It looked amazing and I'm sure it was giving off plenty of heat. Another inspiring video. Please keep doing what you're doing. 😎👍

Yeah it was the second time I’d set it up. The biggest faff is the stove pipe! I had to quickly make that little bracket as a temporary measure as I’ve not stove jack in the awning but once setup It’s really nice. I’ll keep making them. It’s good fun mate 🙌🏻

Hi Andy. It’s become a bit of an obsession, definitely spent more than I expected over the years and a LOT less than some people imagine. It’s definitely at the low end of the market budget wise for these overland style vehicles. Did a lot of DIY too. Still it’s high for me so it’s all relative I guess 😂👍

Some really clever features in the new Jimny. Love how the front seat folds flat so you can sleep inside the car. Brilliant. I thought you had removed the front passenger seat haha. I were to buy a new car that would be it. I have an older Daihatsu Feroza, which I love, and being similar size I watch a lot of Jimny videos to look at space efficient ideas. Hoping to possibly work out a way to have a low profile, light weight roof top tent on my Daihatsu.

Hi mate. Cheers. It’s not brilliant on fuel and has a small 40L tank. That to me is is main downfall as a mini Overlander. Not that I go far myself with my simple and short camping trips. So it’s turning out to be a great little car for this kind of thing, especially solo or with one passenger.👍

Great vid I’ve got a 50 yr old seies 3 land rover and I’m thinking about making a similar awning for it, I used to sleep in the back of it on a camp bed hung over the tailgate and seat bulkhead, surprisingly comfy! Grand inspiration, and love the wee stove 👍👍

Need to make it a bit more durable etc next time I’m out with it I’ll get a pic! We had a jimmy some years ago when we lived in Cyprus, was great offroad, loved it. 👍👍

I don’t like cooking, or cleaning up and doing the dishes after meals. Driving out to a field, just to cook dinner and breakfast, seems like a whole lot of work. This seems worse than cleaning guns after a shoot. MRE’s and junk food , are a great way to eat, while enjoying the out doors.

Hi Tim, I wouldn’t say it’s super uncomfortable but I’m not really doing longer than 200 mile journeys (rarely at that). It’s certainly a ride you feel no matter how far you travel. If I had the option of it being our second ‘fun’ car it would make more sense than it being our only car but I just love them :)

Expeditionary Force is great if you’re into ‘big’ space war stories. The best books I’ve listened to on audible was the king killer chronicles. Book 3 release has become almost as fictional as the storyline though. Hoping I’m still alive when it’s released 😅

I was thinking what a pain that stove is but as soon as I seen the side window when you sat back it looked awesome 👌 I use the biolite it's a nice bit of kit

I did fancy the bio lite. Looked at it a lot but I struggle for space in the jimny for items that size. The awning walls are fairly new but the main thing is the boot build for the base and sliders. I’ll show it more once it’s out of prototype phases with the guys who designed it. It’s really clever and modular. Got more mods to do with it in the near future 👍 Aye never far from a noisy road in this country! The amount of comments for not using a lighter was getting tiresome. 😂👍

You might need a cargo barrier with all that stuff in the back. Obviously it would need to be able to dismantle part of it for camping. Never know, there are plenty of nutters on the roads these days. We don’t need uncontained projectiles in our Jimmy’s. Mine is 2011 and I parked beside a new one with all the mods the other day. Looked awesome and the driver wasn’t bad either. Loved the stove. Thanks.

Thanks mate. Everything is tied down to the base except for the awning walls. Yeah the stove was good. I still prefer a campfire but as we all know it’s rare finding somewhere to be able to have one in the UK. “The driver wasn’t bad either” 😂😂😂

hello Geordie, I was going to say " are you american " as I couldn't tell without hearing your accent. The penny dropped eventually, your so neat and tidy everything in its place. With the surprise unveiling of your car and tent/home, and all your needs fulfilled with cooker,on tap water icebox, even the whisky is held in its place. I bet your wife is pleased having a self sufficient man who cooks and cleans, just saying innit. Breakfast was unusual having asparagus with eggs and bacon but it sounds good and looked like it tasted good. Great little video Ive subbed, Love and Light 😊

Next time you make that dish try using the plate you used for the veggies. Should use that upside-down as a steamer type setup for your salmon that way it can cook on the skin side down which in turn makes it steam cook fully to perfection. Love the video keep up the great work

Hi Mate spotted you in Morpeth recently in the big car park I would have followed you and said hi in my own Jimny but I was out for lunch and had to get back to the office. Lovely little setup you have there very nice! I've had a million 4x4s over the years including a Jimny I had setup for winch challenge / events (full external cage, difflockers all round job) which was fun to spend money on before I had kids. I'll keep an eye out for you now, currently I'm in a silver Gen3 with black steelies and a progressing case of the death wobble. I hope to get a new one like yours but the current fleet is paid for so I'm not in a rush until the prices level off somewhat. Thanks for making the videos! All the best!
