Hi Emma :) thank you, I actually made it to the notch, 400ft from summit because of gear issues as well, having the proper gear is a must! Safety first. I’m glad you enjoyed the video, and good luck for you next time :)

Weather looked beautiful.. Easy subscription!! Well done... Did you have to crampon in almost immediately? Curious how much snow has melted mid may?
@sofiemera

Thank you :) Yeah crampons in and out for the first 1000ft and then all crampons, oh there was still deep snow well packed all the way, snowshoes would be really helpful for those who don’t start early like me

@@sofiemera Did you wear knee gaiters over your pants? Sorry I am going in two weeks and any insight is super helpful! Thats my last question lol :)
@sofiemera
@sofiemera Жыл бұрын
@@ADM-wt9cn absolutely no issues, I had to ask a lot of questions myself before going :) so I didn’t have knee gaiters and I wish I had, on the way back, my feet 🦶🏻 were soaking wet, I had all the snow going inside.. I had poles, ice axe ( used it from iceberg lake to the notch), layers for the cold at night and a down sleeping bag if you’re planning on spending the night up there.

Did you have to turn around due to time? Altitude sickness? Or is there a part 2?

first gear issue, I was in California just on vacation and didn’t have my mountaineering gear with me, so I had to buy boots and rented crampons, poles from the store in lone pine. The rented crampons were bad quality, and kept opening during the ascent so I was loosing my balance every time it happened. Second is it’s my first time using the ice axe, I didn’t wanna risk it for the last 400 feet, i didn’t want my first time to be in a no fall zone, solo with just one ice axe... i could’ve tried it anyway with all of this, what made rethink it is all the mountaineers that were at the notch and didn’t summit that day. Ll come back next year to summit with my gear :)

@@sofiemera Very wise; functioning crampons are vital. The mountain will always be there. If it helps your ego, you look fantastic! Thank you for sharing!
