I been E-biking for for two years now, i started off with a 36V 250watt gramma cruiser with a 14Ah battery, then had a 31Ah battery made for it which give me good range ( around 50 miles), end of last summer i made my way into the 48V Fat bikes, which worked like a charm for Canadian winters, i rode to work and back everyday, and a few hours trail riding in the evenings ever since I got it, but now with spring making its way, I am also thinking of a good cargo bike for fishing and solo camping in my area, i pretty much boiled it down to two choice you might find interesting, A bike sold by Voltbike, its called the Kodiak, which is a sorta fatbike but with 3 inch tires which should be just about right for trails and good range, but, it has a maximum battery pack size of 25Ah, which is a little con to consider, my other consideration is a Tesgo Hiker, which a cargo fatbike with 4 inch wheels but the battery packs is what caught my eyes, two options, a 48V 30Ah, or a whopping 48V 60Ah, which is what i would go for, both these bikes have a standard Bafang 350-500Watt planetary gear hub motor, unlike the Juliet or the Romeo which uses a full on Brushless. Still not sure which is best though.

I noticed you have a 2004 and mine is 2003. You have the same saddle as mine. I will be happy once again to ride once I get a new display, mine had a error. I plan to ride 100 miles in one day. I ride about 50 miles each time. Up hills and down hills. I had a few issues on my bike that need fixed once I got it out of box. My box was really bad. I plan next to get another new battery, that way I don't have to worry how far I want to go before charging. I noticed also the front wobble. My first bike had that same wobble issue because of me adding to much on the front with weight, I changed the weight in back now no issue. I can't change my new eAhora Juliet 2003, I enjoy mine. I want a new camper trailer next, but not been able to get one I want. Take care! Thanks!

Thank you for the video, I really enjoyed it. I went with their new model called Cupid for use in the city as well as for some bikepacking, it's a cargo style ebike. The frame design of it is lighter than the Romeo or Juliet but can carry the same 330lb weight, with a 165lb rider it's rated for 60 miles straight electric or up to 110 miles with pedal assist. Between my pack and the front and rear cargo racks I could carry all my gear. I am thinking of possibly pulling a small trailer with it and purchasing an extra battery when they have batteries available.

Companies always exaggerate their claims! I liked watching your video. You actually tried to fact check their claim the way the bike was advertised to do. I hope other people watch your video to get a true honest opinion. If you could next time, I hope you would consider posting your route. That can tell what size grade hills you hit and your average speed up and down those locations. I think there are a couple of bike apps that would do that. You would increase your viewership if you did!

Nice video, Jim. Been a few decades since I've been out that way. In 1994 spent some time in Yellowstone wondering around. Of course, I have a few question about the Juliet (since it's on my short list for a long range Ebike), and perhaps an idea of a video since you apparently like to camp. First the question: 1. How long have you had the Juliet now? 2. Roughly how many miles total has the Juliet gone? 3. Have you had any issues (flats, broken chain, etc.)? Now watching this video an idea of possibly a camping gear video would be cool. It seemed like quite a nice, relatively compact/lightweight setup, including the ability to have hot food. Maybe you'd consider a video of what you took on this trip. Just a thought. Thanks again, think I watch the other distance video first, twas nice also.
@solojimoutdoors
@solojimoutdoors 7 ай бұрын
That is a great idea for a video. Thank you. Maybe I can incorporate that into my next trip. 1. I have had the Juliet a few months now. 2. It has a couple hundred miles on it. 3. I have had 0 issues. I lube the chain and check it over before any long trips but no issues so far. Not even a flat tire which is surprising with the places I have taken it. I really like it so far but I honestly do not have anything to compare it to and I am not a real picky person. I just want something reliable and everything else just adds to the adventure. Thank you for watching and for your feedback.

@@solojimoutdoors not sure if you've ever heard of it, but there is a product called “Flat Out”. You let the air out of tires, put flat out in, air them back up (be sure to check that the bead seats correctly). There are quite a few videos out there about it, and it's a fairly new product, only a couple years old. Basically it protects you from getting flats from punctures from thorns, nails, etc up to either 1/4 or 1/2 inch (I forget). Being you mentioned the thorns, thought I'd let you know about this product. It is design to be preventative, not like I used it after getting a flat on my Specialized Como, but it still worked. Sealed the heavy-duty staple that found its way into my rear tire. Anyway, thanks for the info, like I said the Juliet is on my short list for a long distance Ebike.

@@solojimoutdoors Just to let you know. The sizing on the Shinko is different from what they use on fatbikes. Shinko are motorcycle tires so they go by the size of the rim of the bike and not the tire. The Eahora run on 20 x 4", where the Shinko go by 3.00 x 16. But they fit the same. The Shinko are 3 inch instead of 4 inch. You would also have to change the tubes for the new tire size also. Some people go with the 241, they say the run better smoother on the roads. Where as the 244 war more for the dirt. Some people run one wheel 241 and the other 244. I would think the 241 run quieter down the road because of the tread patterns on the tire. Here's the link for the tire and tubes I use on my Sondors XS fold which use the same size tire as in the Eahora. Yeagh that's some next level intel this guy gave, but a dumb newbie question's that just now popped into my head would be, why does the inner tube need to different than the stock innertube that comes with the motorcycle type tire? If a Shinko motorcylce tire is compatible with the Juliett E-Bike, why won't the entire stock tire be also with it's original stock innertube? P.S. You know there is a way to get around the weight and sluggish performance that comes with the baggage of having better puncture proof tires, (You just upgrade the controller, but that's another topic for another day) (but basically your sacrificing some battery range to get more motor power and speed, but the 32 AMP to 60 AMP battery's are the right choice for that type of upgrade) @@solojimoutdoors

Hello Jim. I just received my juliet today and upon assembly, i found that the red spacer which sits under the shock plate on the head tube, is loose and has about a half inch of up and down play. I was wondering if yours is the same way or if it's got no play whatsoever. I sent an email to Eahora about an hour ago and they actually just responded. They asked for pictures. Hopefully they can shed some light on this but in the meantime, I'm hoping you can tell me if you have the same issue. Thank you for your help.

Sorry for the delayed response. Mine has a red spacer, shock plate, then two 3/8" spacers on top of that below the handlebars. It then has a red cap with an Allen screw on top. Everything fits tight. I hope this helps.

Yes, plenty of youtube videos of people doing just that, but nobody yet showing the pefect solarbank to pack to charge the 60AMP battery, but it can be done, I would suggest looking into specialized E-Bike trailers or trollys to haul the solarbank and panels and any camping equipment, rather than trying to fit all of that on the rear rack, there are a lot good choices even in the under 100.00 range on Amazon, but once again there are youtube videos of people demonstrating how much extra cargo they haul with one, I think on a 1000 watt rear hub motor you can haul up to 80 lbs not including the trailer safely, but might need to limit your speed to like 20 MPH to be on the safe side, unfortunately there are only observational rules of thumb here for us to go by, so there is unfortunately some trial and error growing pains to be expected, at a minimum look carefully at the quality of the tires on the trailer as some are made for off-roading, and some only for city pavement.

I think the first company that figures out how to make a portable solar charger for ebikes is gonna make truck loads of money.
