I know it sounds crazy but you may want to clear some of those trees out from around your cabin. If there is ever a fiorest fire, you'll be happy you did.

Cool build! Does the downstairs bedroom get cold? Assuming no second source of heat in there?

Thank you. If the cabin was bigger, it might be an issue, but as small as it is, it heats fine. The little heat powered fan on the wood stove helps.

Lots of ingenuity! Questions about your plumbing: how deep is the well your solar system is pumping water from? and how did you dig a septic field with no equipment?
@solojimoutdoors
@solojimoutdoors 2 күн бұрын
Thank you. We built the cabin with no heavy equipment. The septic and well came later and those were installed professionally. We used an outhouse and brought in water for several years. My well is 300' deep and runs off of solar. The pump is at 125'. I will be doing a water system video this spring. You can check out the solar pump install video here: kzbin.info/www/bejne/iXuXc3yda82UaNEsi=ZORNlRJAXHodEZha Thank you for watching!

Great to hear the prices, thanks for being so transparent. Must admit, I was shocked by the final bill, that's a big pill to swallow...but at least you'll have a glass of water to help! Beautiful cabin and great videos. All the best from the UK.

how does insurance work? looks in the middle of the woods and super easy to break into
@solojimoutdoors
@solojimoutdoors 5 күн бұрын
Check your local area, but insurance is generally available. Yes, we are in the middle of nowhere. We are careful to lock up anything of value, but ultimately, we don't really have anything worth stealing in the cabin. Off grid for us means no TV's, no computers, no game consoles or anything of the sort. If someone breaks in to steal my food and blankets, they must need them more than me. Great comment. Thank you.

It’s absolutely gorgeous, but no place to bathe! You also have laundry baskets, but no washer? Don’t get me wrong, I think it’s a cozy little cabin, and I’d love to have one, but I’d want a shower and a washer, preferably a small washer/dryer combo stack unit. I’d probably put a shelf in the bedroom above the bed for extra storage and to keep the room a little bit warmer. Does that tiny stove really generate enough heat to reach the bedroom? I would think it must be pretty chilly in the bedroom during the winter!
@solojimoutdoors
@solojimoutdoors 15 күн бұрын
Great attention to detail. I love your ideas. We currently have a nice outdoor shower with a shower house build coming in 2025. Washer/ Dryer combo will be located in the shower house. We currently don't live there full time, but we are working towards that and all the things you mentioned are being planned for. Thank you so much for watching and sharing your ideas. Oh, and yes, the stove does heat the entire cabin fine. It is rated for up to 1200 ft2 and we are well under that. It really does great.
