😳😳Whoa. I've never seen you say a beef steak dish was so bad you didn't even want to show us what it looked like. At least the rest of your food tour was a success, especially that pork belly. That pork belly looked mouth-watering. Sea grapes, huh? I'll have to give that a try if I ever see that on the menu. Thanks for sharing!!

Braised pork belly with rice is one of the few dishes featured on this channel that I've actually tried before - trust me, it's definitely worth it. It's more like a tasty, slightly sweet and savory stew that leaves you feeling really satisfied afterward.

(Joking, don’t take my tone seriously) It’s clear you don’t follow the Mike Chen/Strictly Dumpling food religion, you’re way behind on the new biological facts too…. How can you get to 2022 & not known there’s a stomach for savoury food and another, quite separate one for dessert 😂 The way the world has become so crazy who knows, someone might even begin to believe that 😂

LOL, I had just got back to having Spam with breakfast (62 yo, too). They sold it in singles packs along with cans. Singles worked because I didn’t have spam often. Then Covid hit and I couldn’t find it for 2 yrs. Now it’s back and I’ve only had it a couple times.

3:41 OMG this unlocked a deep memory within me! I used to watch this anime called Azumanga Daioh, a slice of life anime about high school girls, and for their senior field trip went to Okinawa. The airhead character, Osaka, kept chanting 'sa~ta an~dagi~' over and over again to the annoyance of her classmates, but I never knew what it actually was until today. I found myself chanting 'sa~ta an~dagi~' as you introduced and ate it xD They also had a running gag with chinsuko (5:02) because of a word pun that's indecent, but again I never really learned what chinsuko actually is, so thank you for the introduction! Glad you were able to try some champuru and sea grapes too. Sea grapes are nice, especially when paired with some chili slices and soy sauce! To be honest, if I were to ever visit Japan, I would probably visit Okinawa first, looks like a very nice and familiar place to be in.

No pork belly, is just a lump of fat with a strip of meat to me yuk lol Stirfry veg, without the fu, MMMMMM love beansprouts. No tofu, but rest of breakfast look good. I could not eat all that for breakfast tho, maybe brunch :D

Sorry to hear the beef steak was terrible. Hopefully you weren't charged. Not sure I would have gone for the span & egg, sandwich . . . but to each his own. Interesting, your fabulously good ice cream is called, "blue seal" . . . ours is called "blue bunny." The hotel room was very nice, only 5400 yen. I will assume the pillows were soft. Your breakfast looked delicious, especially the agu pork saute. Was fascinated by the sea grapes. Never knew they existed. So glad to have gone on this trip with you. See you on the next one. Take care. 😊

Solo, I like your food videos almost as much as the ferry travel ones! So sorry about the steak, though. I keep reading that Japan is very expensive, but you find hotels that are nice and reasonably priced. I assume that is because they don't cater to Western tourists!
@WanJae42
@WanJae42 2 жыл бұрын
It was expensive in the 80s, and if you want to spend time in Tokyo at very high end hotels and restaurants, it will be expensive still. But if you get out of venues marketed to tourists and travel more like an average Japanese person, it's completely affordable. And of course, transportation charges can add up, but that's true anywhere. Maximize your time in any one area.

@shirokumakogyo
@shirokumakogyo 2 жыл бұрын
They're pretty much standard these days, at least in Japan--the toilet has a cleansing nozzle that sprays (warm) water either back (for everyone) or front (for women). They also come with heated seats. Some even spray a deodorizer and play a "flushing" sound if you like. Others have auto-open/auto-close lids, under-seat lighting (for at night), and other features. TOTO is the dominant manufacturer, but other companies like Panasonic sell them too. They're available in the U.S.; not sure about the rest of the world.
